Is Genesis History? (2017)
Some beautiful scenery, spoiled with absurdity and religious propaganda
It's difficult to understand how anyone could believe the narrative of this film. These people are so far removed from reality. There's a lot of starting to make an argument, stopping short because there is no validity to their assertions, then jumping to a false dilemma.
E.g. Radiocarbon dating isn't reliable (allegedly), therefore we can't trust that rocks are millions of years old. Since rocks are not millions of years old, genesis must be true.
This stuff is 95% brain damage, there is some stunningly beautiful footage though.
Harold's Going Stiff (2011)
Enjoyable and fun. Not taking things too seriously.
I enjoyed this film. It's quirky, different and whilst it is a bit amateurish in a way; I prefer to see it as quaint.
I've watched it twice. It reminds me of "I, Zombie: The Chronicles of Pain" with a bit of a "Series 7: The Contenders" slant.
Hollywood glitz is all well and good but sometimes it's great to watch something different and appreciate it for what it is, not berate it for what it isn't.
There are a few plot holes but this clearly isn't supposed to be a "solid" narrative, the endearing characters more than make up for any inconsistencies for me.
I can't wait to see what's next from Keith and the star of the show Sarah Spencer!
Kyle Cease: Weirder. Blacker. Dimpler. (2007)
Not funny at all
I honestly don't know how this guy can hold an audience, I have just suffered half of Weirder. Blacker. Dimpler. and I did not laugh once. Where is the humour? Kyle Cease just acts like a bumbling fool.
I've seen this type of confused idiot act being performed on the live floor show once (BBC Scotland) and it was done very, very well. Mr Cease just doesn't seem get it at all though.
I am actually very surprised by my own opinion here as I will happily watch a lot of amateurish, low budget drivel and I do find myself quite easily entertained; even at the incompetence of others.
On the other hand, he is a likable character. Perhaps better suited to slapstick movies and the likes? I feel that the he is in desperate need of material and direction.
For the other reviewer to compare this with Demetri Martin, Jim Gaffigan or Jim Carrey is just insanity.
