Day of the Woman (1978)
Good genre movie
I watched the VIPCO release of this movie which is supposed to be uncut. It is a pretty well made "rape-revenge" movie, about an attractive young female writer who is going to spend some time alone in an old house in the countryside. Obviously the local boys think she's a tad too attractive and they bring her out in the forest where they engage in raping and beating the woman up. She manages to get back to her house but the boys pay her another visit and treat her no different than the first time. Anyway, she rejuvenate and returns, to kill each one of the bastards who engaged in abusing her. Their "leader" even get his wee-wee cut off and bleeds to dead. Anyway, the movie is pretty well made. I found the rape-scenes to be rather disturbing and you definitely want the rapists to die slowly. So when the revenge comes it's quite a relief. It's an above average genre movie, well worth a look for fans.
...E tu vivrai nel terrore! L'aldilà (1981)
Brilliant is all I can say
Fulci gives us a thrilling and interesting haunted-house tale with some nice Lovecraftian references. I first watched a cut version of this movie and even then I was horrified. I later got hold of uncut, digitally remastered WS edition from Spaventoso, under the original title "L'aldila'" and I was totally stunned. All the Fulci trademarks like eye-shots and nasty gore is present at it's very best. Not just one of the best zombie-flicks out there, but maybe one of the very best horror films ever. See and appreciate!
Primitif (1978)
boring cannibal flick
I watched this movie under the title "Primitif" with Holland subtitles. It was not interesting at all, the plot (if any) was obvious and the gore effects was not very good. Need I say that the acting was ham? The only positive thing is the intro soundtrack which was "We are the robots" by Kraftwerk, accompanied by some "stylish" jungle-footage. Bah!
Unless you're a REAL jungle-exploitation/cannibal-movie fan, this is not worth the 90 minutes.
