Great story ....... But
4 March 2022
Having seen the TV series on Amazon Prime I will now purchase the book. Having watched the TV version I have a hunch the script writers probably buggered up a perfectly great story as they usually do. Great acting but the script had more holes than a Swiss cheese. Although the acting was quite good I found listening to various "French men" speaking Aussie English quite grating. I suppose it should not matter but added to the script blunders it sort of ruined the show. On the technical side, there were quite a few "interlace" artifacts, as Amazon had obviously taken a copy straight from DVD. Sad that they could not have used the original film version, but I imagine it has been lost long ago or perhaps it would have been too expensive to re-master. Interlacing by the way is how video was presented on old TV's. You probably don't care and you are right it should not matter. I am just being fussy. The other factor was that scenes filmed in Australia were almost always shot in groves of pine trees to make it look like France. It fell a bit flat - but then there was probably just not enough money. Now I will read the book and see what was left out and what was added.

Not Bad - I give it 8/10 for entertainment
9 February 2020
OK - so I should be reading my Thucydides or Suetonius or Dalrymple's Anarchy - all three great entertainment and educational works of history. Yet there are times when you need to grab a glass of red wine and just sit back and watch dross. Jurassic Park III has been given some bad reviews. Some say the dinosaurs looked like plastic and others say that it was just stupid. Perhaps - but this is entertainment for kids. It is just fun. It does not need to make sense. The Marx Bros never made any sense, but they were fun to watch. While watching my wife was screaming, "Watch out - OH NO !!!!!!" So it kept her awake and glued to the screen - and that is all you want. It is just a dinosaur movie for kids and it was relaxing to watch after my 12 k hike in the Adelaide Hills this morning.

Jurassic World 3 directed by Colin T. Trevorrow, will begin filming in 2020 and I hear that it will be excellent. That is all I can say for now, but I am sure you will enjoy it as much as the first one made so many years ago.

Good Job
2 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I give this movie 10 out of 10 - it is not Shakespeare or James Bond but has an important message. Sally would probably drive you mad if you were working with her in a hospital and the movie is a bit like an infomercial pushing a new product. But it may save a few lives and that is the important thing. The number of patients suffering serious B12 deficiency may be small but if this movie causes them to push their doctors to test - then that is great. If you are a doctor you should first read some of the many studies on line from Tufts University and other reputable institutions. Most doctors and hospital administrators won't like this movie but some lawyers will !

A Rather English Marriage (1998 TV Movie)

Worth Watching
22 June 2017
You will enjoy this movie if you step back and watch it like a spoof put together by the actors themselves. Otherwise the story as portrayed in this production is just not logical. There are irritating loose ends and tangents that I found frustrating. However they are all great actors doing a fine job and if you take it as it comes and just accept it as a silly spoof then you will enjoy it. Why an otherwise sensible, financially independent, elderly widower, would move in with an old grumpy, ungrateful, insulting, rake is not well explained. If you are going to write a script at least give good solid logical reasons to support why a character follows a particular course of action. The moment I gave up asking why so and so did such and such I began to enjoy the journey. A few drinks would also help. It is a silly movie that I ended up enjoying. Rosamund Pike - her movie debut - and some others appear for about half a second. One wonders why you would go to the trouble of assembling a cast of actors who may well spend three days on set only to be almost invisible in the final production. Even more outrageous is that very often, some bugger would have spent weeks mulling over who to cast in these invisible roles. We can only hope the invisible ones receive regular residuals ! So grab a stiff drink, relax, throw logic out the window and watch this movie.

Great Movie
15 October 2016
I give this movie full marks. It may not be Lawrence of Arabia or a block buster but it is fine cinema nevertheless. For what the producers did with their budget and the location and interior shots - they did very well. One reviewer remarked that the movie did not credit the true discoverer of the cave. However if you watch carefully it is clear that credit is given to the huntsman who actually did find the entrance in 1858.

I enjoyed the production thoroughly. this is the perfect movie for those who enjoy historical drama. Well paced with great photography and great location sets. I have family in the film industry living in Hollywood and it is often a great battle between the corporate financiers who want as much sex and nudity with blond bimbos to boost sales and are constantly ruining potentially good cinema by inserting complete dross into otherwise good scripts. Good cinema is becoming rare. Someone has taken a punt on this movie and my bet is that it won't rake in millions - but it gets my vote and I loved it.

In May 2017 I will be visiting Altamira and will remember this movie and certainly want to read more about its discovery. Chris Lachman, Adelaide, Australia

Lust for Love (2014)
10/10
Congratulations - Great Movie !
10 February 2014
I have to be careful what I say here because I know Anton King and Dichen Lachman too well. Dichen is our daughter and we have watched this production develop over the last few years. When one is an observer - and offers advice and criticism - whether it be football, baseball or a movie - it is just too easy. We sit back, watch the show and every small blemish and fumble is noticed. However I give the whole crew 10 out of 10 for this production.

Tonight my wife and I had the opportunity to sit back and watch the movie by ourselves. Normally I prefer slow plodding movies like "Lincoln" and "The Thin Red Line". I do not normally watch love comedies. However I did enjoy this movie and not just because our daughter was in it. Fran Kranz and Beau Garrett did an outstanding job. Caitlin Stasey and Enver Gjokaj are also fantastic.

I enjoyed this movie and it is well worth seeing. The cast and crew deserve a medal. In particular Anton King and Dichen Lachman for pulling it off. No one who has not been involved in making a movie will have any idea just how difficult it is. There are many people who made this production possible and they came up with money because they believed in the project. Anton and Dichen are both Aussies they went to Hollywood and made their movie. Good job ! Lastly I have to say - viva Alessandro Ongaro of Luna Pictures Entertainment. You also did a great service to this picture.
