Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
Really Bad Eggs
This movie was complete and utter chaos, backstabbing, deception, and double-crossing pirates. But, hey, pirates are 'really bad eggs.' This movie was good, but needed a little less plot lines. Less is more in this case. The special effects were great, as usual, but they dimmed as the movie kept going. I think the other two movies were better; this one sadly lacked...character. The movie jumped from plot to plot, barely leaving you enough time to figure out everything until the end. The ending was extremely good and surprising. Poor Liz.
This movie is one that is better to see at the movie theater, with the pirate crazed atmosphere surrounding you. Make sure you stay for a very cute scene at the end of the credits.
The Family Stone (2005)
A Beautiful Surprise
I started to watch this movie, expecting a comedy. I was surprised. This isn't necessarily a Christmas comedy. Sarah Jessica Parker is perfectly cast for the role of Meredith. Diane Keaton and Craig T. Nelson make the perfect parents for this little "dysfunctional" family. This movie has quite the star-studded cast. I personally think Luke is a better actor than Owen, but that may just be me. I thought it would be all about the Meredith/Everett romance, but it is more about the Stone family coming together over the Christmas holiday. It was a good movie, totally different from what I was expecting. It is definitely well worth the watch.
Jane Eyre (2006)
Great movie!
This was one of the best of BBC's adaptations. Possibly better than Pride and Prejudice. Toby Stephens made a great Mr. Rochester. He had equal amounts of charisma and wit. He was the exact picture I had of Mr. Rochester when I read this book. My only problem was Ruth Wilson. She didn't act to her potential; Jane needed to be more assertive. She went along with most of Rochester's antics. I shouldn't blame her, but the screen-writers. Otherwise, she was perfect. She had the looks, temperament, and acting needed for this part. This movie didn't stray too far from the book, only a few scenes were different. All in all, I believe this was a great movie.
