Still Game: Local Hero (2019)
An Embarrassing Return For Still Game
Jesus, this is bad!
Still Game was never about trying to be "relevant" to current times, but that's exactly what they try to so here by making Winston a YouTube star.
It's really poorly written and comes across as really awkward. The whole episode has little laughs and is unintentionally cringeworthy.
I've been watching Still Game since it first aired in 2002, after Chewin' the Fat ended (a sketch show which Jack and Victor were character in) and it was consistently funny for the most part and really well written. You really grew to love all of these characters, but all that magic was completely gone after they returned after the hiatus.
It would have been a much better loved sitcom, if not for the comeback series'. I will still love the first six series, but anything after Methodone Mick is introduced (who has to be the unfunniest Character in the entirety of Still Game), I'll give a pass.
Cursed Films: Cannibal Holocaust (2022)
Really Interesting, but...
It was everything I already knew about the film. I've seen all the special features and interviews on the Blu-Ray' and DVD's throughout the years, so there was nothing new here.
This would be a good watch for someone who's never seen Cannibal Holocaust before, but not recommended to anyone who's interested in so-called "curses", because there isn't one.
It's a strange addition to this series, perhaps they added it because it's a horror film and infamous. Superman: The Movie would have made more sense to make an episode of, as that is a movie synonymous with "curses", if you believe in that kind of thing.
Masters of Horror: Imprint (2006)
Just because it's violent...
Doesn't mean it's any good.
This is, in my opinion, the worst episode of Masters of Horror by far. The episodes vary on degrees of quality, but this is the only one that I genuinely didn't like.
Billy Drago, who was a very interesting character actor, is terribly miscast here. He over-acts his balls off in this.
The violence is just a long, drawn out torture scene. Yes, it's violent, but it doesn't necessarily make it good. Cigarette Burns is also very violent, but the story is interesting and the acting is good, so it all works. In this, nothing works.
Seinfeld: The Merv Griffin Show (1997)
Nigh-on Perfect Comedy
One of my favourite episodes of this wonderful sitcom. I wish comedy.was written like this nowadays, especially in this era of feminism. Anti-PC comedy like this needs to be created now, but most writers are too afraid of being "metoo'd".
The best cringe comedy ever writren.
Top Gear (2002)
never been a fan of cars, but
about two years ago, I accidentally switched it on, and started laughing out loud at it while watching it, and all the time while watching it, I was thinking "what is the name of this programme, it's brilliant!" The banter between presenters Jeremy Clarckson, James May and Richard Hammond is excellent , and challenges are very funny and exciting. I found out that it was Top Gear, and now I never miss it. I love it for the excitement, the humour, everything. I started telling most of my mates (most of whom aren't all that interested in cars) about this amazingly funny exciting programme, and most of, them like me never miss it. Absolute brilliance.
Along Came a Spider (2001)
Very Disappointing
After reading the novel "Along Came A Spider" by James Patterson Which is one of the best books I have ever read, I though I would watch the film and see if that was as good. I was extremely disappointed. There is not one similarity between the film and the book. the characters have different names, the plot is all over the place and doesn't bare a single resemblance to the novel. Whilst reading the novel, I couldn't put it down because it grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go, the film however, I was barely able to stay awake to see the end. the action scenes are poorly done, It's set on a boat. A boat isn't even mentioned in the novel. I f you want some helpful advice, read James Patterson's 1993 novel "Along Came A Spider" and be totally enthralled, and just forget this film was ever made.
