Best in Show (2000)
Definitely worthy of the blue ribbon
I saw this film without ever having seen Waiting for Guffman. After seeing this, I definitely am hooked on Guest's wonderfully bizarre and hilarious mockumentaries. The actors were all hilarious portraying various dog owners bringing their prized pets to the fictitious Mayflower Dog Show. But more than anything, Fred Ward made this movie. His role as the show's commentator was one of the funniest performance of 2000(albeit, a lean year for comedies and movies as a whole). This is not to take away from the rest of the cast, who all were phenomenal. Definitely worth you're film dollar.
Animal Factory (2000)
eh.
Nothing bad, nothing great, just a pretty dull movie. The relationship between Dafoe and Furlong's characters isn't very intriguing and the story is pretty generic. Buscemi did a decent job directing, but I really didn't get much from this flick. You're better off watching two episodes of "Oz" than wasting your time with this flick.
American Psycho (2000)
Not as disturbing as the book, but still..
Ok, so if you've read the book, this adaptation doesn't really do justice to the horrific nature of the descriptions of Patrick Bateman's crimes. Still, it's not for the faint of heart or anyone who doesn't like too much sex or violence. Decent adaptation to a classic novel with a stunning performance by Christian Bale. Bale's definately a future star.
