Te amo (made in Chile) (2001)
A Good romantic Chilean Movie
Te Amo (Made in Chile) is an interesting portrait of a part of chilean people who have lived in another country. It is so difficult to enter in the Chilean way of life when you are just a teenager. This movie talks about that and how four friends try to help each other. Everyone of them has secrets and everyone have some pain in their heart. Two girls and Two boys try to feel like adult and understand his particular life and country. Beautiful movie, correctly directed by Sergio Castilla and very good performances, Tamara Acosta act one of the most sicotic parts of the Chilean Movies. You really have to see it if you want to understand that to be young in Chile is as difficult as to be young in anywhere. beautiful Movie.
El desquite (1999)
A very good Chilean Movie
Andres Wood gives us a very interesting Movie, with a beautiful cinematography and excelent performances. The movie tells us the story about Anita, a young girl who had to live with a farmer family in the south of Chile. In the first years she lived like a daughter, but when the lady of the house died she had to take the control of the house and she became in Pablo Casas Cordero´s lover. When she got pregnant she left her in the middle of a forest... Beautiful could be the word for this chilean film. Andres Wood can touch our heart with this story and give us a good exercises of the new Chilean Movies. You have to see it if you want to know something more about the new ways of the chilean filmography.
Hay algo allá afuera (1990)
The Real First Chilean Horror Movie
Before "Angel negro", "Hay Algo allá afuera" tried to use the horror cinema for making an interesting game of performances. Pepe Maldonado made a psychological and dark movie that walks near to the psychological suspense with some horror elements. The fear goes with the unkonwn way of our mind... We can live a life without knowing that we are living another... In that sense the Movie is a god try to make us understand how much complicate can be our mind some times. A very interesting Movie... that took to the Chilena Cinema to anothers ways... Here there is no a political story... There is not a far away character... Here we have a near and dark story... More Universal, but without losing our vision of the world. Pepe Maldonado is like David Linch (of course in a latin america way) and He tried to make something different and He Did. A good movie for knowing the news ways of 90´s Chilean Cinema. Good Performances of Luis Gnecco and Lux Croxatto. And an interesting Photografia, with a dark and Dangerous and "neon" lighty Santiago.
Ángel Negro (2000)
Horror in a Chilean way
Angel negro is not only a new try to make movies in a country where is so difficult to make them, Angel Negro is the first horror Chilean movie and it works perfectly. You can not ask for a huge money production but they replace it with a strong creation. Jorge Olguín could create a very good fun without any ambition, that was for better. This Movie is more close to entertainment cinema than the "autor" cinema and that we can appreciate it because this movie is one of the most funny chilean movie ever made. blood, scream and persecutions are its elements in an authentical horror movie. Andrea Freund is a great actress and her performance in this movie is simply irresistible.
A good entertainment, good performances and a funny story make of Angel Negro the first Chilean Horror Movie and one of the most funny.
