Two Fisted (2004)
give a nice guy a break...
For the money spent to produce this movie, I think it works pretty well. Would I have been able to follow the storyline had I not read the script first? Probably not, it does meander a lot, and doesn't seem to have a solid through-line. Would I have liked to see Jason Sabala putting more foot to ass? Hell yeah! The rest of the cast also shines. Robert Blanche makes his character, Vincent, one of those ruthless bastards that you just can't help but cheer for a little bit. Danny Bruno's scene is the men's room is hands-down one of the most memorable moments for me. Do I think Todd Freeman will make more solid films as his career continues? Yes, I do. Even if you were bored by or didn't like 'Two Fisted', you have to admit that it is pretty damned gritty and cool. I am a Todd Freeman fan, and can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve next. He is a true talent, and has yet to unleash his full fury on indie film audiences...
Runaways (2003)
raw, gritty, and real...
This is a well fleshed out story, filled with colorful and interesting characters, that portrays the many faces of abuse and homelessness. Even with the heavy subject matter, it manages to leave you with a sense of hope and faith in humanity. Austin O'Brien's portrayal of Steve Moore is both heart-wrenching and uplifting. The kid just can't get a break, and writer/director Brent Bambic waits until the last possible moment to give him his redemption. The ensemble cast is strong throughout, including Arielle Paul, Demetrius Navarro, and Esteban Powell. While Runaways has a great message and cause, it does contain a lot of profanity -- which makes it a bit too edgy for younger audiences.
Car Trouble (2002)
Glory on the Cheap
this is the best movie I have ever seen... that was shot for $150!
The gore effects are sweet, it's well-lit, is has an original score... what more do you want? Oh, did I mention a terrifying creature as well?!
