Ghar Waapsi (2022)
Slice of Life
Its a very relatable slice of life show with not-over-the-top acting and some good punch packed original dialogue.
Good pick of actors for the different roles which made them feel very real on reel. The main protagonist is very promising. A definite must watch !
Mohabbatein (2000)
Dead Poet's Society - Butchered. Sons create fathers pyre
Probably the worst movie made by the Yash Chopra banner - it was a disapointment to see how shamelessly they could lift the screenplay from one of the best English movies and totally slaughter it. So much for being creative. Yash Chopra films were movies for which you did not have to wait for someone else's review - you could be ensured of a good time but with this movie that reputation is at stake. But he deserves a second chance, more so because it has been made by his son whose first film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was a big hit and must have got a swollen head from that. The dialogue and the scenes were quite tacky. Girls roaming around in skimpy outfits feel insulted when they are thrown into a swimming pool. A strong professor dismissing his daughter's lover without even seeing his face. And after getting dismissed the lover doesn't even bother to get in touch with the daughter ?? The entire movie looked like trailers from other Hindi movies. Amitabh is good but wasted, Shah rukh is not as arrogant, newcomers Jimmy & Preeti are good in the 'Prem Rog' trailer. Erase from memory - not worth remembering
Fiza (2000)
Everything is not fair in the name of religion
Fiza is definitely one of the better movies churned out by Bollywood in recent times. It carries a message that every religion is good but it is the politicians who are using religion as a weapon and destroying innocent families for ulterior motives. It deals with the problems being faced in India currently which have been repeatedly erupting and causing a huge dent in the economy. Since the past 50 years, every time India has got back on its feet a new politician created calamity has dragged it back down preventing it from being a power to reckon with and doing away with national problems like poverty and illiteracy which prevents people from leading a normal existence. And every time the roots of these calamities can be traced to religion. Everything is not fair in the name of religion. The film has good music and both Karisma & Hrithik have rendered superb award winning performances. Some people may feel that Hrithik's character is not very strong but looking at it from a perspective of what he is subjected to and circumstances which he cannot control make him the person portrayed in the movie. The silent scene of him in the train says it all.
