Jimmy Carr: His Dark Material (2021)
His eyes are all over the place
Like someone previously stated, his jokes are kinda predictable and his delivery and the way he tells jokes seem to me to be stuck in the 80s'90s.
He reminded of an edgier Tim Vine, a clever play on words but most of them to me at least were eye rolling cringe, dad jokes with a bit of x-ratedness to make him appear daring.
And his eyes, while he was waiting for the audience to get one of his jokes, his eyes would dart from side to side as if to say, oh I just said something naughty.
I couldn't recommend this as something to watch if your in the mood comedy, try Chappelle or Gervais instead.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Not bad.
Its a somewhat enjoyable film in its own right, don't watch it expecting Shang Chi lore, wipe your mind clean of that idea and just watch it as a fresh experience, Marvel movies tend to invent their own stories and dismiss the source material but the highlights were for me was the performance of Ben Kingsley, he was hilarious.
Raising Dion (2019)
Oh dear.
As stated previously by other reviewers, this is a poor follow up with glaring plotholes and the wokism dialled up, if you want to destroy a series and turn viewers off then employ woke writers.
I would have given this review 2 or 3 stars but there is a stunning Goddess in this show and Alisha Wainwright bumps those stars up by her sheer presence alone, give her better material dammit!!
Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin (2021)
Not exactly faithful to the series.
There best be a sequel to this movie and not a completely new entry to the franchise as it ends with some interesting possibilities, it may not be faithful to the series and could have been renamed something completely different but I guess they wanted to bank on people watching it based on the name.
It starts out as a fairly mundane film with a couple of jump scares but really picks up towards the end, worth watching and like I said, I hope they carry this particular story forward.
David Brent: Life on the Road (2016)
Endurance
Watching this movie is like an endurance test of how much you can take of it, the cringe is just so bad, there is obviously something mentally wrong with the character David Brent but its never addressed, I know this is how the character has always been but he should be in the same care home as Derek, Doc Brown is the best thing in this movie, if you can stand to watch it all of the way through but please, no more David Brent.
The Kings (2021)
Dragging entertainment down with politics.
I gave this 5 stars because its great for the boxing side of it but then they have to force left wing politics into a story about 4 great boxers, rerelease this and remove the politics.
*Editing to 3 stars after watching all four episodes, someone wanted to make a show about left wing politics and then added boxing to give it more appeal, disgusting.
Etheria (2020)
If you're thinking of watching this...
Then think again, I watched the first episode and thought that it ended bizarrely but I reckoned it would explain more in the 2nd episode, I watched the 2nd episode and it was a completely different story, in fact all of the stories are self contained and each one is terrible, the only half decent one is the 2nd episode and that is a stretch.
This is poorly written with poor ideas, it is an amateurish attempt at the Twilight Zone but fails so completely, surely one of the crew on this knew this was awful but they released it anyway.
Climax (2018)
Arthouse rubbish, reviews and ratings cannot be trusted
Entirely set in factory building complex of some sort, a bunch of arthouse dancers performing their modern art dance routines (awful in other words) are spiked with an unknown drug and freak out a bit. That's the entire film.
This film is utter garbage, two of the dance routines last a combined 25 minutes, it should come with a warning that this film will only appeal to pretentious modern art lovers.
Revenge (2017)
Blade Runner 2017
No hype for this film at all, I would have thought that adverts would have been everywhere for this prequel about 2 replicants trying to kill each other.
The female replicant can survive a 200 foot drop onto a tree, being impaled right through the stomach, lose enough blood to keep Dracula going for a month and patch up just the front hole with a burnt piece of metal
She can also use a shotgun as a rifle and hit a man through the shoulder from quite a distance away, an ability I didn't know the replicants had.
The male replicant can survive a shotgun blast to the stomach and also lose so much blood that would even impress Dexter, but a bit of shrink wrap around his stomach prevents the last few vital drops of blood from escaping and those are the important ones apparently as he can quite happily carry on when patched up.
Oh, you mean those aren't replicants? Then why all of these high scores for such a shoddy script?
Suspend your disbelief, not in this movie, but in the ridiculous high ratings and reviews on here, oh and in this movie.
Mom and Dad (2017)
I'm sure I watched this movie.
But it seems like I might have watched another with the same title, actors and premise as all of these low scores are just baffling, take an original idea and run with it, parents turning on their own children, this is a great little film, not much gore to speak of, most of it is just out of view.
Perhaps these low scores belong to the looney left liberal brigade, I dunno.
The Walking Dead: Honor (2018)
Morgan on the rampage
Carl died, meh, but to me this episode was all about Morgan, Jason Voorhees and Rambo rolled into one and he went on a killing spree in all its gruesome gory glory, its a good job Carl wasn't in the way cause Morgan would have taken him out instead without breaking a sweat, awesome episode but only because of Lennie James.
Bad Ben (2016)
Mistitled film
The movie itself isn't bad but it should have been called The Groundhog Day Meets Creepy Doll Movie as it has very little if anything to do with the Mandela effect, It's quite short and worth a watch though.
Impulse (2018)
Not based on the book.
It isn't a bad show at all but the only thing it has in common with the book is that the main character from Jumper had a daughter (I presume it is him, even though he isn't even in this, unless the short clip at the beginning is meant to be him)
It is a complete rewrite of the book, they threw the original away and made up their own story, so if you liked the movie Jumper then you may also like this.
Passage to Mars (2016)
Would have worked better as a Gif
If you wish to be bored out of your mind then please do watch this documentary, a few people climb into an arctic vehicle and plod along the snow and ice, break down a couple of times and carry on.
That's it that's all that happens, you get a few shots of Mars but nothing out of the ordinary.
If you have to watch a something featuring vehicles and snow then watch the Top Gear Polar Special instead, it's so much more entertaining than this.
Fair play to them for putting up with the conditions of working out there but it does not make for entertaining viewing, I just couldn't wait for it to finish, if they had to make an episode out of it then they should have cut it down to 30 minutes.
