The Serpent (2021)
2/10
Great Story Poorly Told
31 December 2022
Jenna Coleman was great, but the lead is miscast. The lead looks neither part-vietnamese, nor part Indian which the serpent was. He was able to fit seamlessly into the hippie trail

Sobhraj was a charming pansexual sociopath. The lead neither resembles nor acts like him. The story hops back and forth haphazardly months and years at a time. Despite being very long, we learn very little about the victims and not much about the real charming Sobhraj

Read the book, so much better than this poorly written miniseries.

The source material is amazing and to think the real serpent was not charged for murder intially.

Better than a xmas story for gen X
27 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was a kid in the midwest in the 80s and this movie gets it right.

My son picked it out, and I am glad he did. My son is 14, and I had to explain some of the references to him like the nintendo glove and BIlly Ripken, but this movie is appropriate for adults and kids alike. Just as a xmas story had its red rider shot gun this had nintendo, but for me having grown up in the 80s, this feels right.

The casting was terrific and it truly was a hilarious movie. I enjoyed this more than a Xmas story because I did not grow up in the 50s.

The.

Superbad (2007)

Super sad
16 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I have to hand it to Apatow. If you hype any movie enough, you sell tickets. While the 40 year old virgin was good, and knocked up was an average comedy, this movie was sub-sub standard. Maybe, that's why they call it Superbad, because it really is. My wife and I could not wait for this movie to end. It dragged and dragged on.

This movie sucked after the first ten minutes. It's like watching a Kevin Smith movie with the profanity, but without the comedy. If you want to see a great buddy profanity comedy, watch Clerks. Most of the dialogue by the 2 best buddies is very gay. Sure everybody knew someone like the fat guy that mouthed off in high school, but they weren't these characters who are practically flaming homos.

The whole police chase was downright lame. Finally, I actually felt creeped out when the buddies meet a possible pedophile. "Hey are you guys on MySpace?" I recommend watching the first ten minutes then walking out.

Sesame Street (1969– )

Sesame Street -What happened to Susan?
12 February 2007
Now that I have a 2 year old I thought I would watch sesame street again. Is it me or did they dumb it down. ELMO HAS TO GO. His segment is 20 minutes of fluff. Plus sesame street has a baby bear character that speaks with a lisp. I don't want my daughter to talk like that character.

It was good to see that ernie and bert have not changed. I guess with the passing of Jim Henson they cannot use the traditional muppets like Guy Smiley as watch I grew up watching sesame street. I remember Gordon and Susan and Bob and Maria and Luis, but especially Mr. Hooper. I was already too old when the real Mr. Hooper passed, but I did watch the show where they talked about his death.

This show was 10/10 up until Henson's death. I guess now it is 5/10, but good enough for a two year old kid. I WOULD BUY THE DVD OF THE OLD SHOWS IF THEY SOLD IT.

Must love dreck
9 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Must love dreck. This was a terrible script with two of my favorite actors. You really don't care about Diane Lane's or Jon Cusack's character and the plot development is terrible. If this script had been rewritten three times maybe there would be some chemistry

I can't understand how a movie about internet dating could not be funny, but somehow this movie succeeds.

How many times do they have to say that women are like fruits that expire!

It's good to see Stockhard channing getting some work, but otherwise I think all of the actors did this film for the money.

This is not a great date movie.

See the original
16 February 2003
There can be only one. (One good movie in the series that is.)The original Highlander was by far the best. It's too bad that the producers of the sequels never saw the original to keep the story consistent. The forth was entertaining, but lacks the awesome music of Queen or the entertaining Connery.

Redux- More is less
20 August 2001
I just saw apocalypse now redux. It's awesome in the Imax theater. The movie is still a must see, but the shorter version was better. Many of the extra scenes, the plantation and the playmates are superfluous. The extra scenes with Brando are good.

The acting is fantastic. The longer movie time makes the movie less surreal which is a shame. This movie was made for DVD. Even in 1979, Coppola shot it with four different endings.

Apocalypse now- Timeless classic Apocalypse now-excellent film

Get Smart (1995)
It needed mel brooks and buck henry
25 January 2001
It sucked. Andy Dick was pathetic. He was too effeminate to pull off this poorly written comedy. As a big fan of the original get smart, I am glad they pulled the plug on this stinker. What made the original series fun was the great schtick written by none other than Mel Brooks and Buck Henry.
