Black People Hate Me and They Hate My Glasses (2000)
funny but contrived
When you watch this short, you really WANT to like it. And some parts of it really are very funny, but other parts seem so worn-out that you're making an effort to laugh, and you know the punchlines before he even makes the joke. But either way, it's cute and original, well put together, and has some excellent lines. Definitely worth the 20 minutes you spend watching it.
Rogue Trader (1999)
simply put:
This movie is slow and dull. The fact that you know how it ends makes it even worse: it seems like they're trying to build up the tension and let you think that maybe Nick'll see the error of his ways. But then you remember what really happened. The soundtrack made the movie even worse, if that's possible. Nothing exciting ever happens. I can't see any reason why anyone would ever want to watch this movie.
Liar's Poker (1999)
a non-filmatic review
The characters are uninteresting and ridiculous. You do not know, or care, what is happening to whom. The plot is convoluted. If you watch this when you're completely sober, you'll understand about as much as if you watched a normal movie completely drunk. I thought it had a good ending, but not nearly good enough to make up for the time and money I spent to watch it.
The Princess Bride (1987)
The best.
I saw this movie when it came out in theaters, when I was about 7. I loved it then, and have seen it many, many times since then. If you like this movie, you just never get tired of it. It is great for kids and has subtle humor for grown-ups too. A gorgeous love story with several twists to keep it amusing. The book is great too.
