excellent film
12 March 2005
Certainly one of the best examples of French cinema. A searing powerful story of greed, and its effects. All the actors are excellent, Yves Montand is especially heartbreaking. This movie and its sequel are two of the best films of the 1980's. By the way it's about time they were re-released on DVD i want to add them to my collection.I do not understand why such films are released and the go out of print these are important wonderful films that deserve new audiences, and a new generation of admirers. If it is a business decision that they don't create as much revenue as most of the garbage that comes out of Hollywood, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Cold Mountain (2003)
10/10
One of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen!
29 December 2003
What can i say about Cold Mountain, everything about it is beautiful. It is wonderfully acted by the three leads as well as by it`s supporting players, Kathy Baker, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Donald Sutherland, et al.

The cinematography is beautiful, the story extremely well told. I consider this the equal of many grand romances, and war dramas that have gone before, especially about the Civil War. The opening battle sequence is nothing short of astonishing. If Gone With The Wind painted an idealistic picture of the Old South. Cold Mountain shows us how it probably was, warts and all. And it reverberates down through today.

The Fourth Wise Man (1985 TV Movie)

worst religious piece ever
22 November 2003
I have rarely seen a worse movie than this one. What a disappointment from this cast. The production values alone are cheap cheap cheap! They couldn`t even afford proper makeup for the lepers, who look like they are suffering from acne, not to mention bad acting. What a waste of great talent Martin Sheen, Alan Arkin, and Ralph Bellamy. The sets are atrocious, most of it is painted back drops. Who would think of riding a horse through the desert? We never even get to see the face of Jesus, one can only assume he wouldn`t show his face in such a poor production. The music should also have been canned. Do not waste your time on this crap!
