Blame It on Rio (1984)
A Great Movie From 2 Periods In My Life.
This movie is much better then the critics gave it credit for. I grant you it is by no means a American Masterpiece. But it is none the less a very enjoyable film! I have to admit, back in 1984 (when I was 16) I saw this movie to pretty much look at the girls. However now I am a man of 34, and while I still look at the girls (who have aged in this movie much better then I have by the way) I look at it from an older point of view, and appreciate it for its depth, and the sweet romantic struggles within the film. Oh, and lest we forget the fine eye candy! That is ageless!
Casino (1995)
A Wonderful Film! A Must Own!
Casino is the best "Mob Movie" I have ever seen! A follow up to Goodfella's, I highly recommend this movie for anyone who likes good drama. Also is a wonderful example of life in Southern Nevada in the 1970's. (If you want to know what life in Nevada is like, watch The Misfits, Casino, and Pay It Forward.) Further Sharon Stone should have received the Oscar for Best Actress. Her performance in Casino is flawless, believable, and 100% dead on! Any man who has known a using, gold digging woman, will admire Ms. Stone's performance.
The Hot Spot (1990)
An Awful Waste Of Perfectly Good 35mm Film
This is a confusing, sweaty mess of a film, that tries to be a sexy story of southern seduction, and turns into nothing more then a tribute to the heat and humidity of the south. If not for the talent (and body) of Jennifer Connelly, this movie would be a total waste.
Star 80 (1983)
Good Star Power. Bad Editing!
Eric Roberts gives a fine performance in this movie. He loses himself in the role, and should be commended. Everyone has known a slime ball like the character he plays. And he does the role so very well. However, while the role is played very well, the editing and sound in this movie leave a lot to be desired.
