The Twilight of the Golds (1996)
Absolutely a must see, Brendan Fraser at his most intense.
Unbelievably insightful movie with a profound look at how science may or may not help us in life's decisions. Absolute must see for all. Leaves you asking as many questions as philosophies you faced. Sometimes knowing all the facts keep us from dealing with life on its own terms.
American History X (1998)
Power is not something you harness... but something you are.
Incredible movie, the whole way thru I thought I had it figured out and yet at each bend I found more human twists. It's the sort of movie that will wake you up and kill you at the same time. You find yourself angry, honoured, wanting to both love and smack the characters. By the end you are emotionally wrenched and you never left the couch. You want to wake up the neighborhood so that they too, can learn, see and feel what you just have.
And it was a beautiful bright 16 year old girl that brought this to me. Never think the young don't truly know, you may very well miss out on a lesson that brings you 180 back around to why you protested the wrongs of life to begin with.
Angel Heart (1987)
Intensely rich symbology, almost doesn't need dialog.
Incredible movie of destiny, trickery, and disaffirmation. A movie that will keep you wondering, and in the end, bring you back around and over yourself. Should be watched more than once, for every time you watch you will see more, hear more, notice more and understand more of this complex film. Rourke at his best, you can't help but feel for him. But one can not out trick the devil.
