Honest (2000)
An o.k movie
Caught the movie on the local movie channel. It was interesting enough to keep me watching. The All Saints play three sisters. Some funny moments, a litle action, and the occasional love scene :-)
7 / 10 - An o.k movie, fun to watch.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
Amazing!
Amazing. That pretty much sums it up. The number of films that move me the way this film moved me can be counted on the fingers of one hand. The scenes, the breathtaking scenery (I've never seen landscape shots like this anywhere!), the characters, the emotions, everything.
11 out of 10 :-)
SubUrbia (1996)
A good thought provoking movie
A good, thought provoking movie that manages to cope with quite a bit of issues within two hours and does it surprisingly well. The movie basically revolves around a group of friends being paid a visit by their high school friend who became a pop star, and the events that follow.
Some of the gang develop a "my friend's a star and i'm not" syndrome, with the star friend trying to explain that "it's just me". I found that part especially interesting since i hope to become a star myself and hope none of my friends develop any syndromes...
I like to think that anyone who makes their dreams come true is a star, weather by becoming a pop star, or the best heart surgeon, or a writer, or a popular high school teacher or gym instructor or... you get my point. It's too bad most of the gang in this film didn't do enough to make their dreams come true, one of them preferring to just moan on about the world all day.
I like to think that they eventually do succeed. After all, hangin' around drunk in front of convenience stores can become a drag after a while...

Willy/Milly (1986)
Funny, original, and one of my favorites.
This is one of those films i just have to watch again every now and then, because i like it, and because it's damn funny. It tells the story of a girl who wants to be a boy, and by magical means, her wish is granted. Some scenes had me rolling on the floor laughing.
This film, besides being a great movie, also deals with some important teen issues in a very funny way, which i thought was great.
One of my favorite feel good movies!

The Neverending Story (1984)
NeverEnding Magic!
This film is magical every time i watch it. I first saw this film when i was about 8, and was, of course charmed. 15 years later i watch this movie and i am still charmed.
Maybe it's something to do with the fact that according to this film, dreams do come true, and the beautiful way in which it conveys this.
Maybe it's the fantasy.
Maybe it's magic!
Whatever it is... 10/10
The Postman (1997)
An amazing screenplay - a charming movie.
This movie really moved me emotionally. Despite it's length (3 hours) i was charmed the whole time.
This movie is original and has all the great ingredients of a great epic.
It's also interesting to see how the Postman transforms when incidents thrust him to hero status - how can he live up to what people believe him to be ? The answer is courage.
Of all the "Hero that saves the world" movies, this is by far one of the best - unlike many action movies, the only resource this hero has is his courage.
A well told and touching story. Certainly one of the best movies in its genre.

Strong Island Boys (1997)
A good movie about the lives of teenagers.
I caught this movie on my local movie channel, and i rather enjoyed watching the film. It has all the elements of a good teen film, and more - this film, aside from dealing with boys-girls relationships and sex and the like, also deals with the issue of steroid use by young people.
The film has that real-life feel to it - no loud music, no special effects and no outrageous scenes - which, for this movie, was right. That feel makes it easy to relate to the characters in the film - some of which we probably know from where we live.
Overall, a good movie, fun to watch.

Mission: Impossible II (2000)
If you're into intense action, you'll like this film.
I came to the premier night of M:I 2, expecting an intense high action fast-pace movie. The film delivered exactly that. Great special effects and unbelievable stunts.
The story line was fine for an action movie. Although originality is always welcome, it should not be such an issue in the action genre, in my opinion.
This film promised to be a good action film - and it is. And when a film delivers what it set out to deliver, then it gets a high rating in my book.
I enjoyed the film and highly recommend it to action fans.

Bloodsport (1988)
One of the greatest ever martial arts films.
This is Van-Damme's best martial arts film and one of the best ever in the martial arts genre.
Based on Frank Dux's true story, who also helped the fighters in this film, it tells the story of how he enters the kumit'e.
The fight scenes are amazing, and are all real. Some amazing muscled bodies to be seen in this film. The story line is a good one for this film and fits in as it should.
This, along with Bruce Lee's Enter The Dragon, is the best martial arts film ever. For martial arts fans, this is a classic, and gets a 10 from me.

Enter the Dragon (1973)
Bruce Lee's best and one of the greatest martial arts films.
This is a classic and one of the best martial arts films ever (along with Van-Damme's BloodSport), and Bruce Lee's best.
Bruce Lee shows what martial arts is all about, and his style and fighting ability are absolutely amazing. Expect to see some good fighting scenes from the other actors too.
The story, is basically about how Bruce Lee, also called Lee in the movie (which kind of makes you feel you are watching the real Lee, and not an acted character - i liked that, it fit in well), is recruited by an intelligence agency to supply information on what illegal operations go about on Han's island, by joining the competition hosted there every once in a while. As Han has outlawed armed weapons on his island - and this fits in perfectly with the plot - you can be sure that what you'll see is a pure martial arts film.
This film being one of the best in it's genre and a great film overall, gets a 10 from me.

Sudden Death (1995)
Van-Damme's best action movie.
Van-Damme is known for acting in two film genres: Action and Martial-Arts. His best martial arts film is BloodSport, also thought to be one of the best movies of all time in it's genre. This movie - Sudden Death - is his best action film.
Great action scenes, some very hilarious scenes, and great overall action and suspense make this a great action movie overall.
If you like action movies, you'll love this one. If you are a Van-Damme fan, this is a must-see.

Volcano (1997)
A very good action/disaster movie.
This movie is seen mostly from the view point of the Office of Emergency Management (O.E.M) Director, played by Tommy Lee Jones, which, in times of an emergency, has control of all city resources.
More than just a disaster movie, and what i really liked about the movie, was the plot set around seeing the O.E.M Director use his authority to manage the city under the critical circumstances it was in. In this sense, it was much better than other disaster movies, in that we not only get to see special effects, but also a good, solid plot set around how the people - civilians, police men, fire men, doctors, and just about the whole city - led by the O.E.M Director, actually set off to deal with the problem.
Great action and good performance overall.

The Matrix (1999)
One of the best movies of all time - A modern work of art.
gen· ius: Extraordinary intellectual and/or creative power. (Dictionary definition)
This film is cinematic genius.
An amazing plot combined with super special effects never before seen in the cinema make this movie a modern work of art and one of the best movies of all time.
The depth of the characters in this movies is more than meets the eye - besides the characters themselves, each one excellently performed, the names and the general plot suggest mythological characters, some with a role similar to the roles of those in the movie.
The movie, technically speaking, is filmed to absolute perfection - after watching this film over and over and over and over, i have not found one single technical goof. Whatever video/computer techniques the makers of the movie used for the special effects is totally transparent to the watcher - unlike older movies, where you could tell a computer or plastic doll or whatever was being used, in this movie all you see is the real world (as real as it gets in this movie...) and everything that happens (visually) is totally believable.
The plot, although being a far out science fiction plot, is believable, technologically speaking. The extremely scary thing is, though, were this already true - most of us, just like in the movie - would have no way of knowing that we were what we were...
As for the movie itself - there is not one unnecessary second in the film. Smooth, high action from beginning to end.
The only movie that has ever gotten an 11 out of 10 rating from me, this movie is one league above all other movies in it's genre, and is the next level in sci-fi and special effects.
If you have not seen this film, go do so NOW. I personally have not met one person that didn't say this film was excellent, to say the least.
