The Devil and Miss Jones (1941)
Great farce and romantic comedy
This movie is not just a funny movie, but also deals with social issues concerning American Capitalist society in those days (the 40's - pre-WWII).
It is a remarkably funny comedy in itself, but it's greatness is in its ideological-political understatements, although seemingly right-winged and obvious - it doesn't quite "educates" the viewer, but in a very subtle way captures the grotesque image of the capitalist super "all-knowing" tycoon, and educates him.
It is not one of the movies which reprimands Capitalism in its face (while using the capitalist system - which is hypocrisy), but subversively glorifies the working class and the upper class as equals in a modern liberal and equal society.
The romantic story is brilliant as is.
Dwaj ludzie z szafa (1958)
Really cool little student film...
Although you can file this movie under experimental or avant-guarde (which are controversial film genres), I think that if only all film student made short films as good as this one... perhaps student films would have had a wider audience (other than film students!).
