Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)
R.I.P Freddy
There was really nothing in the movie that I didn't like. When I went to see it at the cinema you got these 3-D glasses to put when the 3-D part comes on,and it was way cool! I think I still have those glasses somewheres. All of the Nightmare films are good, but I guess the best one would be the first.I think I was about 14 when I first saw it and it almost scared the pee out of me,heehee, but of course they don't spook me now.One of my favourite parts in Freddy's Dead is when Spencer is on the couch stoned and Freddy comes on the TV and goes "Hey Spence, let's trip out" and the funky music (which is the begining of Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida)comes on with the groovy swirls and colors and he pulls Spencer into the TV.I own the whole Nightmare series on video, and looking forward for their release on DVD! co=
Braindead (1992)
Gross!!!
To be honest I didn't really like this one much. The gore was good and all but the rest was a bit...well...sick.I liked the end where everyone was swimming through blood and guts all over the floor.Well okay the movie wasn't that bad but it could of been a bit better.
My rating 5/10
The Stepfather (1987)
I liked this one.
I first saw this when it was released back in the late 80s.(I remember too that when I saw it on the video store shelf I didn't have the money on me,and when I did the video would be rented out already, but I finally did get to hire it). That's also when I first known about Terry O'Quinn, and ever since then whenever I see him in other movies or on TV I automaticlly think of him from The Stepfather.I'm not saying that I don't like him or anything,it's just kind of weird how I remember him from his "Scary Jerry" role.
My rating 8/10
Deep Blue Sea (1999)
I give it 10/10
I first saw DBS when I got it on DVD.I thought it was pretty good. It's got that suspense thing that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the effects were good too.Unfortunately I found a few of the "shark attack" scenes a bit fake,I mean you look closely and you can tell the graphics were done by computer. Also the part were the guy slips and gets his arm bitten off by the shark, when he falls down you can see his real arm behind him (he didn't do a good job at hiding it).But honestly I like this movie. On the back of the DVD box it desribed it as "Jaws on steriods"
The Chair (1988)
**thumbs down**
I remember borrowing this movie when I couldn't find anything else I wanted.I've rented quite a few bad videos and The Chair was one of them.I didn't follow it too well and come to think of it I didn't even end up watching the whole thing.
So videos are like books, what you see on the cover isn't always what you get.
The Thing (1982)
It's a Classic
I still love this movie. It's one of those that will always be classed as a classic.I think I first saw it in the late 80's when I hired it at a video shop, and hired it many more times after that!!The first time I saw The Thing it did spook me a bit, but after you see it a few times the "scared" feeling wears off as you know how the film ends.I own it on video and now on DVD which is just cool as you get some great bonus features included.
I think my favourite characters would be Clark and Palmer.Watch his expression when he says "You gotta be f******g kidding". I just love David "Palmer" Clennon, having first dicovered him when I first saw The Thing.
