Raymundo (2003)

Where art meets politics
14 December 2003
Using Raymundo Gleyzer's life as the line to review the violent dark years of recent Argentinean history, this documentary brings back the mixture of arts and politics of the 60's and 70's in Latin America.

The idea of "things finally are over" is pulled down by showing how the same problems that Raymundo worked against are still present, but fortunately without the extreme violence of those days.

The film is very dynamic and full of exceptional historical material.

Sex, Madrid and good music in an excellent comedy
13 December 2003
The plot is simple, but effective. The humor is just brilliant. A musical comedy (or a comical musical) with six excellent actors.

I really enjoyed the film from the very first line to the great final with Calamaro's song.

I was in a good mood, and this film pull it even higher, even though I have to admit this always happens when Paz Vega is in a film.

It will not change your life, but it will certainly give you a good moment to remember.

The common places where lives go
11 December 2003
How to start again when all the hopes are over? How to keep loving the same woman during all your life? How to change without loosing your ideals? How to get old and feel as the first day of your youth?

Basic questions, with basic answers that not everybody is willing to hear. Common places where most of us try not to go.

This film is poetry into a movie. One of the best scripts contents of the Latin American cinema. Aristarain shows one more time to be one of the best ever Argentinean directors.

Take your time to enjoy it.

Very close to be a good movie
14 September 2003
It has ups and downs. Extremely good moments, and moments that you ask yourself what is the story trying to tell you. Some moments of the best acting Argentina has ever given (Alfredo Casero as a `buchón') and some of the most boring.

Nevertheless it is worth seeing it. It helps you think about the loneliness during Christmas time and the light relationships of our times.

It is a modern tango story (without tangos) but with the same taste in the mouth.

A nice script experiment
24 August 2003
I saw this film yesterday in a very tiny cinema in Frankfurt, in the back part of a bar. A really cool place that created the necessary environment to watch this movie.

This is a film one would always like to see. Three different stories based on almost the same script, with different characters and life situations. One of these stories with a different ending. The one that all of us would like to be the `real' one, if there is such a thing like a real one, the one with the happy ending. Unfortunately the most improbable one.

This three parallel stories are not based, as `Run Lola Run', in three different consequences on how the main character decides in front of one situation. This is a nice script experiment, involved in a very funny movie. I enjoyed it, and I hope you will enjoy it too.
