Wo hu cang long (2000)
Pure Absolute Magic and Nothing Less
This film is amazing. These are four of the truest words I have ever written. The choreography, the acting, the imagery, the music, everything just tied together for a magical motion picture. I was transported to the world of China, a tale of derring-do and a clash of good and evil. The entire movie took my breath away. First off, it is much more than just a kung-fu movie. It has the breadth and the depth of any drama I've ever seen. Second, this movie is absolute fantasy, where the heroes can fly with just the thought of it, gods and goddesses among the mortals. You won't even notice you can't understand Mandarin Chinese because the actors emote in so many different ways. And the characters are great. Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-Fat) and his stoic manner, and his tragic inability to express his love to Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh, who has never looked better), Jen (Zhang Ziyi) and her untamed power and irreverence towards the old traditions, and Jade Fox who thirsts for revenge. This movie is excellence undiminished and I will recommend this movie over ANYTHING ELSE thats out currently. Do yourself an enormous favor and see this masterpiece. Movies like these keep film an art form.
Disneyland: Super DuckTales (1989)
The best DuckTales episode EVER!!
I loved this show! And this TV movie was just awesome! I think it was the first time I watched a cartoon on primetime. I still remember when this thing came on! And I even got it on tape!! Wow, everyone has got to remember DuckTales, Gizmo Duck, and Launchpad McQuack! Uncle Scrooge, the nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and Webby! I loved this movie!
The Best Man (1999)
One incredible film
This film is full of great characters, who are rounded out into real people, and despite any flaws in them, they were all still likable. It was nice to see all of the cast interact with each other as if they haven't seen each other for years. It's a just a great movie, and its replay value is above a lot of other movies out right now. Malcolm Lee has done a fine job with this film. Go ahead and see it! Now!
Charlie's Angels (2000)
WOW!! Man, that movie was good!! (Possible SPOILERS)
Where should I start? Charlie's Angels uses its best assets, the lovely ladies playing them. I must admit, at the beginning, I heard of all the bad buzz, cheesiness, infighting, blatant coping of Matrix-kung-fu. I really didn't know what to think. But let me tell you one thing, Charlie's Angels has one aim only: to be a crowdpleaser. Charlie is going to rule theaters this autumn, and should be around much longer than "Meet the Parents". The action left me breathless, and those actresses, they pleased the eyes so much they had me begging. Bill Murray was good in his scenes, Cameron D., Lucy Liu, and Drew did a great job. They enjoyed making this film and it shows. The camaraderie isn't forced, and each angel is given their time to shine. I saw maybe one and a half episodes of Charlie's Angels, but I'd see this movie again and again. Hardly no blood (good for the kids), but lots of babes and lots of skin (you decide whether it's good for the kids; at the right age, it may even be helpful), and lots of butt-kicking. Go see it, rent it, see it again. You'll love the action. Tim Curry makes a good villain, Crispin Glover has a mean streak he's been hiding, and the movie has a twist that you won't believe!!! Well, I said my peace. See ya!
Toy Story 2 (1999)
Pure and absolute magic.
One of the best films I've seen Disney do ever. I haven't enjoyed a Disney sequel this much since The RESCUERS Down Under. The characters are great and the voices are terrific. The setting is beautiful, and the camaraderie with the toys (and the filmmakers behind the scenes) make for a film which could only be described as pure and absolute magic. However, with the talented Jim Varney's tragic passing, I hope Pixar can still continue the Toy Story tales. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen among others do a great job. I...I have to go see this film.
Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993)
Whoopi Goldberg and Lauryn Hill are fabulous in this film.
Whoopi returns in the habit and is better than ever. I love this film ever since the first time I saw it. Go rent it, get the soundtrack, and "go with God." By the way, Lauryn and the rest of the gang is fantastic!!! Love those nuns, dig those kids!
