Gekijôban Poketto Monsutâ: Myûtsû no Gyakushû (1998)
Whats goin' on here?
So I'm flyin' through the data base writing up stuff on Hitchcock and Welles, and then I start thinking to myself (as many film majors do), "but what does it all mean?" And then I think "sure these old classics are great, but what new things are going on? What movie did I REALLY enjoy that came out in the last year or so?" And then it comes to me: The POKEMON MOVIE!!! Come on people! What is more fun than 151 little cute monsters running around spouting off their names repeatedly while kicking the crap out of each other.
So then I go to the imdb page, and I see that it got like a 3. And I about lose it. But then I check the other reviews, and everyone is my age, and everyone more or less likes it. So, the question remains, what is going on?
The answer is a matter of how 'in' you are. Everyone must know that Pokemon is like the hippest thing out there. The people who don't like it are in denial! Look, for what it is, its cool, especially Bulbasaur.
I call for a change of rating. We should get every Pokemon fan to vote on this thing, and get the rating up to at least a deserving 6. This movie is Awesome! I have seen it twice now, and I plan to own it as soon as possible.
Le procès (1962)
Great!
The use of black and white film in this movie is extrodinary. It
truly shows Orson's power over the medium. I saw it with out
knowing too much about it. I knew it was a Kafka story, and that
Anthony Perkins was in it, and thats about it. Perkins does a
wonderful job, playing something opposite of his role in Psycho.
I think that Kafka stories make a wonderful translation to film,
and this movie is deffinite proof. This reminded a lot of
Brazil, which for my part is certainly a good thing. I don't
wanna say too much, 'cause I know that everyone has written a
lot already. Lets just leave it at this, Orson welles is the
man, and I highly recomend this movie to all who haven't
Shadow of a Doubt (1943)
I'll never look at my Uncle the same way.
O.K. can you say creepy? But good. Very good. All the actors in this movie do a splendid job. As usual, Hitchcock does a great job of building suspense, and keeping the viewer guessing the whole way through. All this, and he still has time to illustrate his fear of cops. Not his greatest piece of work, but still very good, and very Hitchcock
Saboteur (1942)
Hitchcock. Man or God?
Oh my God!
How could anyone not like this movie. Hitchcock truly exercizes his suspense building abilities in this movie, to their fullest extreme. I'm not going to give anything away, but that scene on top of the Statue of Liberty is just great. Its been over a year since I've seen this movie, but it still pops into my head every now and then, because its just so fun! If you even remotely a Hitchcock fan, you have to see this one. I'd certainly put it in his top movies
Predator (1987)
Gotta see it now!
This has got to be one of my favorite movies of all time. The best thing is that it can double as one of my favorite movies, and favorite comic books all at once! The Predator is one of the coolest looking creatures around, and to top it off it has a great bad-ass attitude, that makes it that much cooler. I have read all the comics, and seen both the movies a hundred times. I can't wait until the Alien Vs. Predator movie comes out, because it will be one of the best movies ever. This movie is total fun from beginning to end, and I highly recomend it.
Hot Springs Hotel (1997)
Best show on T.V.!
This is some of the finest television going. I swear! Sure it is sexist, and a poor excuse for soft core porn, but the entertainment value is off the scale! There is nothing better to do than sit back on a Saturday night and laugh my ass off at this completely ridiculous show. I think there need to be more series like this one!
Bad Moon (1996)
Excellent werewolf movie!
I can't believe that anyone would go as far as to bad mouth this movie. In a world where good Werewolf movies are far and few between, you would think that this flick would demand more sympathy. Sure it may not follow the book very well, but what movie ever does? The costume/creature effects in this movie are incredible. The amazing thing is that this movie does it with out the benefit of computers. It has the best costume work since the original Howling.
The story and plot are easy to follow, and it is filled with action and entertainment to the very end. If you're looking for the book, don't bother, but if your looking for a damn good Werewolf movie give it a shot!
