The Dead Zone (2002)
First rate thriller-suspense!
This is an excellent, first rate series and way better than the original in my opinion. Anthony Michael Hall is utterly perfect as Johnny. He has that certain something that gives his character great intensity and warmth. I'm not the biggest TV fan anymore but with this show, I am totally on the edge of my seat. Take another look at Anthony Michael Hall, he is superb.
Great cast, great directing, great plots...this is what good entertainment should be about. I highly recommend it to all.
If You Believe (1999)
A First Rate Fairy Tale (in reversal of roles)
We've seen countless of Scrooge movies with the male actors taking the lead in this classic fairy tale but this is the female version playing the Scrooge part. Ally Walker and Hayden Panettiere give wonderful, heartfelt performances. I've been a fan of Ally Walker and was delighted to see her in this role--she's perfect! Although this film is not available on the internet for sale, I got the DVD at Staples and was immediately drawn to its story line. I'm glad I discovered this film as the old Christmas films were started to get too "old" for me. This was truly a gem of a find!
The Perfect Storm (2000)
A perfectly "weathered" film and third-rate cast
The film was a real bore and lacked chemistry between the cast. Good effects but bad actors not even George Clooney's presence improved it. Diane Lane (looking very weathered) was the worst. Isn't she a bit too old to play the love interest of the very overrated Mark Wahlberg...don't waste your time with this one.
Vertigo (1958)
Jimmy Stewart deserved an Oscar!
Jimmy Stewart deserved an Oscar for his performance in Vertigo and it's inconceivable to me that he wasn't nominated for his brilliant and captivating performance. I'm amazed each and every time I see this film at his ability to reveal the darkest sides of a character (than what the audience is use to seeing). I'm also drawn to this film for its direction, artistry, cinematography, haunting theme & music and, of course, Jimmy Stewart. It is simply a visually stunning film. The last scene where he verbally lashes out at Kim Novak is so unlike a Jimmy Stewart character that it just leaves you in total awe of his acting range. A total master at this craft!
It's one of Jimmy Stewart's finest performance, and the film leaves you "on the edge" as only Alfred Hitchcock could...
A 10 in my book!
