John Ford, l'homme qui inventa l'Amérique (2019)
Politicized drivel!
How does some American literature professor who never met John Ford, have the nerve to declare that he was terrified of his feminine side and that's why he made such macho characters. What does Donald Trump have to do with John Ford! This is the worst drivel I've ever seen that was labeled a documentary.
Cheyenne: Fury at Rio Hondo (1956)
Not plagiarism because Faulkner wrote both.
As several mentioned above this is a retelling of "To Have and Have Not" in a western format. The screenplay for that Hemingway story was actually written by William Faulkner, who also wrote the script for this episode. As the studio also owned the rights to both, there is no issue of plagiarism here.
American Experience: The Gilded Age (2018)
Worst episode of a very good series
The worst episode of a very good series. Over glorification of the labor, socialist movement. Lack of appreciation or the simplest understanding of the wealth created during this time.
The Girl Who Had Everything (1953)
Not a bad little movie
A bit of an old fashioned drama, but entertaining if you like movies about simpler times. The plot is simple and not overly cluttered. The cast is superb. If you like to watch movies instead of analyzing them, then just sit back, watch and enjoy.
The Jackie Gleason Show (1966)
How Sweet it is! The "Great One" at the top of his form !!
This show was Jackie Gleason just doing what came natural to him. Enjoying himself and making people laugh. His portrayal of several different regular characters, all of whom were as memorable as Ralph Kramden, were all portrayed flawlessly. Frank Fontaine's songs were an added treasure! It seems unlikely to hit the airwaves again, so one can only hope that the shows are released on DVD.
Today We Live (1933)
Worth seeing for the the WWI boats & planes alone
I enjoyed the story by itself, but the things that I learned about WWI Planes & boats, make this movie a must see. The close-ups on the plane & the torpedo boat & how they were used were completely new to me. I heartily recommend.
Star of Midnight (1935)
This movie is thoroughly enjoyable with just the proper balance of
This movie is thoroughly enjoyable with just the proper balance of humour, intrigue, and style that only William Powell is capable of . Ginger Rogers gives one of her better acting performances and seems very natural opposite of William Powell. This is as good as any of the Thin Man series.
