Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
"The Room" of Star Wars. Amateur theatre play guest starring McGregor, with script generated by AI.
Script! Dialogue isn't great in Star Wars, but this is like generated by ChatGPT.
Plot holes, let him in the open with weapon that makes him instantly recognisable . Why Ben has intruder alert if after looking at it he will just walk in without care anyway. And his things still get stolen. Why he has to work as meat cutter in poverty when his close friend is basically king of the world, couldn't Ben some retirement money? Dig out the box from the ground after many years, - it looks like put there minute ago.
Casting! Rupert Friend unrecognisable and wasted for this role. Moses woman is just worst casting of the century .
Flea - unfair, he's a great guy and he can act, but he's given wrong role and then nobody directed him.
Evan can't play badly and he's like in his own movie, just terrible dialogue keeps pulling you out.
Editing! People chasing that little girl by giving her couple of seconds to run away. With camera placed to show all the mistakes. At least editor could cut one second earlier to spare this embarrassment, but they left all that calamity in!
Sets! Each planet location look like a small set just shot many times from a different angles to confuse you. And almost all of sets, even the desert, look fake and artificial. We have the technology! Why?
The Virtuoso (2021)
Connection to The Father starring Hopkins
Hopkins character from The Father is senile and that's why he agreed to participate in this movie. Worst movie of 2021.
Madonna: Rebel Heart Tour (2016)
A great show turned into unwatchable mess by terrible editing and sound
I have attended the Rebel Heart tour and this movie does not represent it at all.
It looks like the director tried make concert into a music video that is supposed to be running in background in some club so people can dance to it.
There are two things fundamentally wrong:
- First is the The "teenage attention span" ADHD editing. The concert footage is heavily mixed with video clips that were running on big screens on stage. Most of the time the sound does not match the picture. You can clearly see Madonna's lips don't sync with the sound. And that's not only because of overly artistic editing. It's also because the sound is not form that visuals:
- Second, the sound is for the most part is not from the concert. It's obviously not live recording which is especially evident by Madonna's vocals. Only some slower songs retain the original vocals.
So this is not a concert video because it does not have concert sound, no atmosphere, you can't watch it as a concert because of the cuts every 1-2 seconds.
Why watch this? If you want to watch music videos you will be better watching Madonna's music videos for songs in album. If you want to watch the show itself you can find much better "pirated" videos from the tour on Youtube.
Overall, if pirated concert videos on Youtube represent the show better than your movie, you've done it wrong.
Bitva za Sevastopol (2015)
Clichéd, empty, typical modern Russian cinema
This is one of modern Russian movies made for the lowest common denominator. The plot and character motivations are over-the-top explained as if makers of the movie was very afraid someone at the very lowest end of intelligence scale will not understand everything. The main character is not likable and her background or motivations for being extremely reserved and grim person is never explained. Because of unsympathetic main character the whole movie is very hard to care about.
Battle scenes are very few for such a movie and serve as illustrations rather than plot points. Some of the things taken from modern combat and movies are just silly, like navy seals style training and collecting tags from sniped enemies. That simply did not happen at that time in history. Sniping scenes are very weak, especially when main character hold the rifle it visually wobbles a lot until she pulls the trigger and gets perfect shot. It's just laughable. There's a cliché sniper-vs-sniper standoff subplot which ends way too quick, and ends in confusing "Han Solo shot first" situation.
Also laughable are all the death scenes. Like actors came from some provincial theater and try to portray dying in a most over-the-top dramatic way.
Universal Soldier: The Return (1999)
what is he doing ?
Universal Soldier I was very original and interesting movie. This part two is all about money making. Little bit of humor saves you from hating it and leaving the cinema. And another thing; Van Damme was wearing shirt during all the movie. He do not take it off /rip it off in any moment, even in hottest fight scenes. Getting older ? No more muscles to show off ?
