Cheap TV GARBAGE
31 December 2015
Stolen ideas, god awful writing, cheap junk. Where Spongebob has creativity to it. laughs , wit and good will, the Regular Show is cheap filler that only is on TV because it is cheap. There is no other explanation. Horrible designs , awful execution, terrible . Look for the massive number of mistakes throughout.

Why this even got released is beyond me. It is no wonder 2D is failing with this kind of flat, boring bad art direction. Could you not step up for a feature release ? On the big screen these massive gaps in movement, the HUGE expanses of white burn your eyes out like staring directly into the sun. THIS IS NOT TV! Thankfully I will never have to sit through this junk again. Stop making films. JUst because you can make a film does not mean you should. Fail, fail, fail.

The first few minutes . . . .
13 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
. . . . . . were actually pretty good. The rest, kind of a jumbled mess of story telling and different styles for no reason. The flash style Paley uses in the beginning is quite beautiful but ends far too soon. It would have made a great short. Which in reality is what this is. What follows is a jumbled mess of cartoon , cutout and substandard TV flash set to inappropriate 30's music. This is offset by the fact one person did the entire thing I know but films are not judged by the effort, they are judged by the result. The talent is there but the arrogant belief that talent or design can overcome the missing story is too. I am glad the cat and Sita in the end.

"Stop whining!"
24 March 2014
I was hired at Disney as a lead (which I never asked for) and negotiating was like talking to children , like it was Disney and you should work for nothing. Finally they hire me, then one of the people who has been there for years starts whining he wants the lead, , "Do you have a problem with that " the producer says, I say "No, I think Im just as good a follow up , fine". Well it turns out that lead is emotionally insecure and not only doesn't want my help but are afraid that you might be good. He condemns me to 8 months doing nothing. Zero!

In an accidental self outing he says "There are these two great artists coming on from Pocahontas who are really good, we have to make sure they don't get any good scenes" Suddenly realizing I'm in the room he says "Oh but I doesn't mean you". What follows is a fun festival of stuff that doesn't work till they hire someone named Brian Stiff to clean up his work and make it stiff. It was like having your drawings RAPED! Gutting anything artistic! I quit the character and went on to do some of the best work I had ever done on another character in the film.

I am a very dynamic worker, I have run entire productions by myself and still do. Sitting for 8 solid months doing nothing was like sheer torture. I spent those month bored out of my head. Other Disney artists were horribly jealous because I got hired , straight as a lead and I was making decent money without doing the time. The system is made to be self hating as Walt planned to use one artists in competition but this was whining.

If I wandered the studio to see what they were doing they were angry I was not happy doing nothing and called me a "whiner " for not being happy that I was just hired by Disney. They would insult anyone who wasn't crazy about doing crowd scenes. Which is hilarious because by the time I was near he end of my 8 months in solitary at Disney I was stealing crowd scenes off other peoples desks and letting them claim the footage. Still, the group of them couldn't believe the audacity of this person entering Disney as lead.

I did this scene for this other lead on his character. he said "Wow, now I know why they hired you!". I said "Thanks , I liked doing them I'd love to do more ! " Suddenly this lead wheels around and says "SHUT UP! WE ARE TIRED OF HEARING YOU WHINE! ". The psychotic atmosphere at Disney was hard to believe but it was real. Underneath any pleasantry is this absurd fear that someone wants your job. People were angry and bitter That's why he flipped out, having done good job they thought I wanted this character now.

This kind of nonsense is endless there. Little cliques that kiss each others behinds until they back stab each other. A lead from Pocahontas wrote he most horrible work report for his best friend. His best friend cornered him in his office and made him change that report.

Ironically the directors offered me the lead on two other characters in the film and I said "No!". I had been bullied enough! I am good enough knew I could be a powerful secondary I told them a friend wanted those leads and they gave them to the very artist that had been betrayed by the Pocahontas lead, and he did terrific. For that I will always be grateful.

So how do I feel about Dreamer ? I feel no empathy whatsoever with a dream so small. I wanted to be an animator, not just a Disney animator. There are hordes of artists who want to be Milt Kahl or Ollie Johnson. Why ? Be yourself, do your own stuff. Disney was not magical, it was the collective that was magical. Without it it is just another dead place. Dumbo was not a greatly animated film but it was my favorite. The world will not miss another Disney princess. They long ago stopped leading. Move on like the tens of millions of Americans that got replaced by the slave countries.

Worst!
17 February 2014
Die Another Day (2002) Do not judge Pierce from this. Goldeneye was genius. This is entirely the directors fault. Entirely unbelievable in every way. Comparable to Escape from LA in its utter failure to live up to the franchise in anyway possible. Pretty cast, silly gadgets, bad jokes, worse CGI and a totally ludicrous plot make this the worst Bonds Utterly over the top junk that should never have made it to the screen. If you're looking for the worst Bond film ever made, here it is. This film is a travesty of the franchise. This is simply put, a piece of poop. A film so bad that it cannot be redeemed by anything. This is a terribly irritating bad film that just doesn't work, and this film has the most pathetic plot of any Bond film I have ever seen. Pure trash. This is a poor end to Pierce Brosnan's stint as James Bond. John Cleese is fantastic as Q (I wish that they had kept him in the reboot, they kept Judi Dench so why not him) but basically as soon as we get to the ice palace the movie goes to crap. But at least it's still watchable crap, at least it as boring as View To A Kill and Moonraker but this film did kill the original franchise so it does get some more points against it as well. There's so much bad in this film, I think I know what they were going for and some elements went into Skyfall where they did them right. And I'll admit this... I liked the Madonna song, ya it's so not the kind of song I tend to respond to and I'm not at all a Madonna fan but what can I say I like the song, it's not one of my favorites but I like it. Oh ya and the invisible car. Crap!

K-11 (2012)
K-11, the film critics reviewed without seeing.
17 March 2013
I will write a review but what we have here is an amazingly American "pile on" by the press. What I realize after having seen K-11 is that virtually none of the critics who gave this film zero stars even saw it. If you see the term "CAMP" or "EXPLOITATION" or here them claiming "it couldn't decide what it was" you know that those critic's wrote a review on the trailer and not the film. This film has one problem only to them , Jules Stewart is Kristen Stewart's Mom . They cant get to Kristen so they attack Jules. They attack her even after Kristen was intentionally NOT cast in K-11 http://gawker.com/5990662/kristen-stewarts-mom-wanted- her-to-play-a-character-thats-raped-repeatedly. Interviewers will start asking about the film and then turn to Kristen , helpless in their own lack of imagination and drawn finally to a personality that blinds them to everything around them. Years from now when Kristen is no longer a young star people will re-examine this film. Kristen is not even in this film , intentionally. The press lie, that is what they do.

K-11 is a straight film, not exploitation or camp. Portia Doubleday ,Goran Visnjic , DB Sweeny and most of all, Kate del Castillo, are brilliant. So what has the critics babbling ? They can't put it in a box. They use the term "its like " because they need something to compare it to. Its a great little film that you should compare to every great directors first films because it is vastly superior to Canmeron's "Piranha Part Two: The Spawning" ! Its an incredibly good first film. Making a film of this kind for a first time director is virtually impossible because everyone "knows better". Jules stuck to her guns, finally taking the film back from her first editor and recutting it to the original script. The films most memorable quote "Bad things happen to bad people" . If that were true a few critics here would spontaneously burst into flame. This is a great little film that stands on its own and the cast and crew did a terrific job.

Why ?!
10 July 2012
Andrew Garfield is a terrific actor. Martin Sheen is a superb actor. Sally Field is a mind shatteringly brilliant actor. Marc Webb, well he sure does an OK remake of what was a brilliant film. I cant knock him doing a remake 10 years after , or can I . Feel like you have been here before but someone is tweaking details to avoid looking exactly like the original. This is in no way close to what the original film in originality though and if you went back in time and stopped them making the original this would de-evolve into a boneless mess because of what Sony did . Sony wanted to reboot ala Batman for the profit and nothing else. There are no great lines for Andrew, Martin or Sally. They seem lost in this hopeless reboot! Yes , yes I know it didn't "suck" but it not "sucking " doesn't excuse that it was pointless and derivative. With all the places they could have gone in maturing Parker and family , the characters that developed and challenged the world. What about Spider Man vs the republican party, anything but to waste all of our time with another reboot . Marc is not Christopher Nolan here, he could be but Sony cheated him! Thats right they took a good director and stole a perfect opportunity by forcing him to reboot! I look forward to his freedom from the cheap money changers trying to cash in.

Super (I) (2010)
Brilliant, heartbreaking, truthful.
10 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Frank D'Arbo is a short order cook who is married to recovering drug addict Sarah. He comes home one day to find that Sarah has left him and moved in with club owner Jacques. In his upset at this, Frank has a vision of the finger of God coming down to touch him. He is then inspired by a religious TV show about the Christian superhero The Holy Avenger. After getting advice from the comic-book store employee Libby, he makes a masked superhero costume to become The Crimson Bolt. Wielding a wrench, he goes out into the streets in costume and batters in the heads of drug dealers, pedophiles and those who force their way ahead of him in a queue. This gains publicity on the news. However, when he bursts into Jacques's house to rescue Sarah, he is shot and wounded. He seeks refuge with Libby who has suspected that he is The Crimson Bolt. After patching him up, she becomes immensely excited about what he is doing and makes her own costume with the intention of becoming his sidekick, naming herself Boltie. Arming themselves more heavily, the two of them set out on Frank's intended mission to rescue Sarah back from Jacques's clutches.

Whats with the low ratings , I don't know what movies you all saw, but this one was brilliant. Ellen Page is amazing as Boltie , the oversexed sadist. I bought all th characters. The animated opening is brilliant times ten. Life is more like this than the movie "Kick Ass". Hero's with real flaws, real pain and an emotional issue the size of King Kong. He is rife with our imperfection. / The Crimson BoltI highly recommend this movie for every adult that fails in life, yet still struggles on. The last five minutes made me cry , you will too.

Hexed (1993)
One of the best comedies EVER!
3 February 2006
This is without a doubt one of the best comedies ever. Brilliant acting by Claudia Christian , who holds nothing back from her portrayal of Hexina, the nutbar serial killer/model. Arye Gross is the liar Matthew Welsh who stumbles into becoming Hexinas lover and accomplice. Despite the ratings here on IMDb , trust me, this film is brilliant. Sharp direction by Alan Spencer (Sledgehammer ) just makes this film an absolute delight. IMDb gives clues to why this is not of the highest budget but don't let that throw you.

"The budget and shooting schedule for was slashed by the studio one month before principal photography was set to begin. Rather than abandon the green lighted film, director Alan Spencer drew from his background in TV, forged ahead and completed the movie in thirty days."

Incredibly , this cast delivers everything and more. A treat for sure, check this out on DVD. If you can't enjoy this you have no sense of humor.

Ah, L'Amour (1995)
Ah the truth !
14 January 2006
This film is so good it should be shown to small school children. Don clearly understands the mystery of love well. I saw this online and sent it to everyone I know. I would like to have it put in the Library of Congress. Shown in theaters like the THX sound check . Relationships are soul stealing ordeals that are best left hidden but Ah Lamour is brilliant. It's funny but the minimum number of lines for a comment is ten here on IMDb . That means I have to write almost more lines that the length of this film. Weighin in at around a couple minutes Ah Lamour is a power packed mini movie. After seeing it you will give up dating, sex and having children. If bitterness is your fuel I highly recommend Ah Lamour. For stick figures the animation is actually quite brilliant. See it.

More than you think.
7 August 2004
My wife brought this home and we were both surprised how funny it was. Ok, it isn't Spielberg but the humor behind it is very sharp and entertaining. It is a drag (men dressed as women) movie but isn't trying to hide it . Infact it kind of plays on it.

The story starts with out a driven but hopelessly burned out star who with the help of her long repressed secretary takes in a beautiful Hollywood hopeful , who by the way happens to be the daughter of her dead hollywood rival . A rival I might add that our grand dame earlier pushed to suicide out of jealousy. Now the burned out star is reliving that rivalry with the young starlet but conflict pops up when her son begins to fall for the beautiful hopeful. We found ourselves screaming laughing at this film as it is wonderfully written and acted. You will too. Lose you high expectations and just enjoy the sweet bitterness of Hollywood dreams gone bad. A+

Soldier's Girl (2003 TV Movie)
A beautiful love story.
3 August 2004
This is a film that will challenge your definition of gender and redefine the meaning of love. The true life story of Calpernia Addams and her successful yet tragic relationship with the soldier who fell in love with her, Barry Winchell. First , this is one of the best films I have ever seen. Originally made for HBO it could easily have made the big screen. Frank Pierson directs with a gentle hand and delivers poetry to vehicle that could have been awkward in anothers hands. Ron Nyswaner's script is sharp and deep so Pierson is well backed.

The cast is killer . Troy Garity delivers a surprisingly subtle portrayal of the soldier Barry Winchell. Barry is not an intellectual but far more emotionally intelligent than those around him. He falls in love with an exotic transsexual dancer Calpernia Addams for all the reasons a man usually does for any woman. She is smart , beautiful and underneath the dancers facade a true woman who yearns for someone to care for.

Lee Pace who plays Calpernia faced a huge challenge in that he really is a man but he is so powerful an actor that it takes only moments to convince you the heart of this character is truly a woman's. A classically trained actor Pace finds a way to give Calpernia both the accurate movement of a woman yet the fragile heart of a romantic in danger . I hope that Paces future is not stunted by this role because after delivering this kind of performance it will be really hard to top it. Pace manifests Calpernia so well it defies his physical reality . That feat is beyond most Hollywood actors period.

Added to the mix is the macho soldier named Justin Fisher who befriends Barry only to become the cause of his demise. . A hardcore soldier who drugs himself to keep up with the demands of being the best of the best Fisher is himself both a homophobe , jealous competitor for Barry's attention and dangerously loose cannon . Played by Shawn Hatosy the performance is pretty stunning. I swear I have known guys like this in my life. Shawn delivers Fisher with incredible rawness and realism. A macho redneck with disturbing secrets. You will hate Fisher and yet pity how pathetic he is as a human being he is . Brilliant work. Very rare. Hatosy gives a perfect delivery.

Last is the new arrival Calvin Glover , a wet behind the ears soldier that Fisher easily dupes into carrying out his vengeance against Barry. Played by Philip Eddolls the team of Fisher and Glover fits perfectly . Fisher the power to dominate and Glover his easily manipulated puppet. Too stupid to even grasp the seriousness of his crime Glover is someone you will recognize . Eddolls doesn't hold back anything in trying to give us Glovers small man complex.

If you are homophobic at all you will probably not like this movie but if you believe that love transcends the physical genders we are given you will be moved. Despite finding this DVD in the "gay " section of Amazon.com this is truly love story between a man and a woman. Well worth watching. A+

Witch's Night Out (1978 TV Movie)
Charming.
17 April 2004
Now many people may not know but Leach and Rankin , the husband and wife team, was one of the earlier Canadian animation studio's. The backgrounds are gently rendered by Jean Rankin and the animation is drawn by JohnLeach and a small crew. The voice of Gilda Radner supplies a beautiful Gloria Swanson , Sunset Blvd type witch . Having had success with another earlier film " Gift Of Winter" , John and Jean managed to get this film produced. Their animation process was unique in both how the backgrounds and animation were rendered. The animation was drawn directly on cel with ink pens and with no predrawings . This was Johns way of forcing himself to let it happen and quite frankly his animation was odd yet terrific. He was a powerful painter and his hand was sure and dynamic because of it . It blended beautifully with Gildas eccentric witch voice and is still unique after all these years . The two creators broke up later just before John started work on the ill fated "Lets Play Grown Ups" but they have left a wonderful film that is worthy of being rescued and restored as a Canadian Classic. Definately worthy of watching.

Teacher's Pet (2004)
TV comes to the movies ?
21 January 2004
While critics will praise this Disney TV spin off because it doesn't look like a Disney film little else distinguishes this film from typical TV drek. It needs it's short running time because there really isn't much there beyond it's tv incarnation . The animation is average Korean junk . Unless you are a devoted lover of Basemans designs or a mindless Disney fanatic this film will bore you . It did me.

GO SEE THIS AMAZING FILM!
12 August 1999
Forget Warners past films like the King and I or Quest for Camelot. They were horrible. This is a totally new studio. Brad Bird has delivered the best animated film in years and it deserves to be seen. Dont feel like a fool after you see it on tape. This film shines in the theater and you will love it.
