I don´t think this is a good movie, despite the awards to the director. I don´t even think this is a movie, for Christ´s sake! It´s way too experimental. Silent movie. Too monotonous at some times. Of course it can bring you to the magic of early cinema. Of course the photography is brilliant. Of course this is a great collection of images... but it´s just not a movie. No plot, no story, no sequence in the action. I thought nothing could ever surprise me after David Lynch´s "Eraserhead". Well, this one did.

Here´s a movie i really liked seeing... "Instinct" is about the freedom that mankind lost and is losing every day, about how mind-numbing is civilization nowadays, about how that freedom can be regained if we LEARN how to live. The screenplay is really great, Hopkins performance completely knocked me out, the director (Turteltaub) was much better than in "While you were sleeping" or "Phenomenon". This movie is a lesson of living to anyone who sees it; maybe because of that, it sometimes becomes TOO touching, almost artificial. Anyway, a great movie; i advise anyone to see it.
