The Kids in the Hall (1988)
The most horrendous thirty minutes on television...
This is a horrible waste of time. This comedy is just strange, and really far out. Comedy should be like this: everything but one thing (the joke) should be normal. The joke should be an exaggeration. It seems to be that everything on this show is over the top. I may a bit old school, but the homosexual humor is just not funny. The recurring characters are really bad (especially that chicken woman). I can't go enough about how much I hate this show.
South Park (1997)
funny
The reason this show is funny is because it's bold, and doesn't care who it offends. Since it offends every racial group and both sexes nobody is left out. The shock value for it will send you into fits of laughter, but beware, if you are really touchy about language and sexual jokes, this show will most likely make you mad. By the way, this show is for more mature viewers. Kids (people under 17) shouldn't watch it.
La vie est un long fleuve tranquille (1988)
a VERY bad movie
This movie lacks plot and quality. Maybe I lost something my seeing it in English subtitles. The sex scene was disgusting. It made little sense to me. Sure the movie was about the class differences in France between the upper middle class and the lower class, but it was presented so poorly. I have seen good French films, and this is not one of them. The main thing this movie lacks above all else is entertainment value. It's just not there. The music at the opening is stupid. The part about the doctor and the nurse it totally dropped after a point, and then it just shifts gears and leaves you hanging. You wonder what happens. This a bad movie, don't see it.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
Great movie, but too far removed from the other two
This movie has a wonderful cast, and great action, and superb special effects. A great movie to watch and enjoy when you might be bored. But it's not as good as the other two. Dr. Jones seems too far removed from his role as professor. That's one of the great things about the role...sure he is a daring archeologist, but he's also an eccentric college professor. Almost awkward at times. In this movie he's just cocky. There's no throw back to the early in the movie scenes of the other two when he's in the classroom. The other thing I don't like about this movie is it is not as believeable as the other two (sure they are adventure movies, which plots are almost fanasty), but some of the scenes just are a bit too deep in fantasy.
But it is a good movie. The little oriental kid is really good. Ford is great, so is everybody else. See it.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Robbed at the Academy Awards
By far Shawshank was the best film of 1994. But look who it was up against at the Oscars...Forrest Gump. It's not that Forrest Gump was such a horrible movie as alot of people make it out to be, in fact it was good. But it was also a very hyped movie. The public ate it up, and they also got too much of it. That might be the reason everybody on the internet seems to hate it so. But to say Forrest Gump is better than the Shawshank Redemtion is a far cry. I wish the Oscar's didn't do this all the time. They vote on who they think the public wants to win it seems like sometimes. It was robbed. But that doesn't make it any less of a film. It's a triumph of filmmaking. Robbins and Freeman are excellent. The character Brooks is terrific, and the warden is protrayed perfectly by Bob Gunton. Go rent this movie, if it's the last thing you do. The ending is one of the most satisfying in movie history.
