The Glow (2002 TV Movie)
6/10
Entertaining TV movie let down by ending...
24 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
As a made for TV movie this was quite entertaining, plot pretty predictable after first 15 minutes but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Acting was good, quite a few familiar faces and film seemed to chug along quite nicely. However, the whole thing was completely let down by last ten minutes with a bunch of inconsistencies (e.g. female lead manages to conveniently find a change of clothes, cigarettes and a lighter) and a complete lack of explanation of some of the main issues of the film, how did the old people keep their youth and what exactly did they do with the people they killed to do this? Films that leave questions are no bad thing, but it felt that either a proper ending hadn't been written or more likely the ending had been edited down so much as to cease to make sense. Real let down at the end, otherwise interesting premise.

Signs (2002)

Er, sorry I must have missed the signs!

I'm sure there was some greater purpose to this film that just totally went by me but the film never inspired me throughout, and then just ended. From what I had heard about the film I had high hopes but it was just a waste of time watching it and I felt I gained nothing from it - I've seen TV movies that in comparison to this deserve oscars. Oh well, be interesting to see if it flops.

Wouldn't say it was fun, but could do worse

Rightly drummed, this film is pretty bad and I would place it in the time-filling category of film. There is a story-line in there, if not a very good one and the action keeps the thing rolling even if that isn't very exciting. Overall give it half marks I'm afraid.

Dead Silence (1991 TV Movie)

Quality teen TV movie

Very good as far as TV movies go, actors put in a good performance to allow some depth to their characters, interesting plot all making an interesting viewing experience. The three girls develop the "teens face awful dilemma" line, when on a spring break they run down a stranger after a drunken party. Expedient decisions are made with the moral dilemmas and inevitable consequential mistakes forming the basis for the rest of the film.

Good thriller with a few interesting twists

A good courtroom drama, where we also get some character development combined with some star acting to bring us an enjoyable and entertaining film overall - the twists and turns in the plot also raise some interesting issues that one can take away.

Mediocre thriller with no real thrills
29 August 1999
Flimsy plot interspersed with a few sex scenes for the first half of the film - which could have done with some improvement! Then turned a bit more horrific but ultimately nothing really great.

Notting Hill (1999)

Four Weddings and a Notting Hill
13 June 1999
A nice film I enjoyed watching but sadly to sum it up as cute English man terribly embarrassed but falls in love with American gal who finds him cure is a story line all to familiar - reminiscent of Four Weddings of course. Ah well, old ones are the best ones I guess, not that Anna Scott falling for some guy who runs a travel bookshop in London, who an even more unlikely event happens to have some strange Welsh person living with him. Guess any movie like this falls apart if you think about it too much.
