Well if you know anything about Fred Astaire movies, you already know that his films are never very long on plot. HOWEVER, the music and especially his dancing make up for a thin plot. This one is no exception. The plot of the movie is pretty unimaginative. But, the dancing is about as good as it gets!!! Be sure not to miss the final dance number, with Mr. Astaire and Ms. Powell dancing to "Begin the Begine". I would call it the quintessential dance routine of American film. It is a stark study in black and white. A black background, with twinkling stars, a shiny polished black floor, and the two dancing geniuses all in white. This is a MUST SEE for anyone who loves dance.

This film is full of delicious dialog. And no one delivers it better than the fabulous cast, particularly Bogart, Ustinov, Ray and Rathbone!! It's one of my favorite films for Christmas, but I watch it all year long whenever the mood strikes me. It's one of those films that you can watch over and over again, and each time you get bitten all over again. I would put it on everyone's "MUST SEE" list. Definitely holds up after all these years, and will continue to do so forever. Makes me wish I had a "friend" like Adolphe in my life too.

Not to be confused with the latter 1989 remake with DeNiro and Sean Penn. That's a definite "DON'T BOTHER".

What a delightful little comedy this one is. A perfect vehicle to show just how adept Tracy and Hepburn were at chewing each other up. Hepburn gets to show off her athletic abilities in this one too, and she does all her own stuff. Very funny, sweet and likable. A joy to watch.

This is truly a masterpiece of film making. The dialog, and the acting are especially delicious. Bette Davis has never come across better. George Sanders (as always) is a standout. Anyone who hasn't seen it should run, not walk, to their nearest video store.
