Planet of the Apes (2001)
BORING A TOTAL LETDOWN
I rented this movie and boy was i dissapointed! I really wanted to see this when it was it was still in the theatre and boy was i glad i saved the 10 bucks!! I guess i have no interest in seeing dialogue with actors in monkey suits! Mark Wahlberg should stick to the roles he knows and performs best such as Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights or the Psychotic boyfreind in Fear these are roles he excells in! Now i wont lie to you about one thing Estelle Warren is a total hottie but unfortunatly i've seen both the movies she starred in and they both sucked! This one and Driven. Well highlights of the movie are Tim Roth as Thade and Micheal Clarke Duncan as well! The war at the end between the humans and apes was impressive eye candy and the twist ending was neat but over all a flop!
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)
ANGELINA JOLIE IS SO HOT IM ENVIOUS OF BILLY BOB!!!
I am like the world's biggest Angelina Jolie supporter! She has a wild life apparently behind the scenes but i think she is one of the best actors in the world today! I liked Tomb Raider, I havent really played any of the games but i thought the movie was phenomenal! Great sound for all you DVD supporters! Sounds great on any system that sponsers 5.1 digital surround ! I just watched this movie that was recently purchased by a family member and we had the bonus of being able to view it on a 50inch t.v which just goes to show that the more people buy these big t.v's the more the local theatres will be forced to reduce these crazy admission prices!
Now for the movie i saw alot of indiana jones in this film which is ok cause i am a fan of that series too. Great special effects, watch for the scene in which lara(jolie) is bungee jumping within her own house. Goes to show you the size of house she owns. I liked the fact she had lots of money in the movie it made me want her even more ha! A definate rent it wont disappoint you! Till' next time see ya!
Freddy Got Fingered (2001)
ANYONE WHO LOVES TOM GREEN WILL LOVE THIS FLICK
I rented this flick because I enjoyed "The Tom Green Show" and also I thought he was brilliant in "Road Trip" Boy was I glad I did! This movie had me laughing so hard I could hardly breathe! He has a very gross and dark sense of humour so if that bothers you than this is definitely not the movie for you!
I am really surprised he got away with half the stuff he did in this film! such as when his buddy played by harland broke his leg skateboarding and the bone was protruding thru the skin and Tom decided to get right down there and medicate it such as a dog would!
Or the scene in which he delivers a baby for a near by pregnant woman! Enough said about that one!
Anyways he takes way too much flack from way too many critics who need to lighten up and take this movie for what it really is, and that is a very entertaining 2hrs. Anyways dvd lovers will enjoy the fact that there is a soundtrack available on this disc that allows you to be at the very first screening of this film and to hear the crowds reactions which I think is wild!
Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas (1977)
One of the best muppet movies made
I first saw this when it aired when i was in my early teens. Most enjoyable little x-mas special with very catchy tunes to boot. If you dont love it your kids definatly will.I really miss the brilliancy of Mr. Jim Henson, but he definatly left us some major classics. If you liked this be sure to watch any of his muppet movies for sure fire laughs.See ya
Cats & Dogs (2001)
A VERY CUTE FLICK
I wanted to see this movie when it was in the theatre because the trailer looked hilarious!! Now being an animal lover i was also intrigued because i simply love animal movies!! I was at the local FUTURE SHOP and i saw this shortly after it was released sitting on the shelf so i couldnt resist, the price also helped by the way $25.00 cdn. I ended up watching it on the weekend shortly after i bought it. I was impressed! Mind you the first 30 min. were the funniest but over all this is a funny flick! Try and pick out all the diffrent voices of the diffrent charectors. I guessed Alec Baldwin and Joe Pantiliano right but the others were a mystery. To make a long story short this is a very cute movie that would be great for family viewing night! Mind you if you are a cat lover this might not be the movie for you because Mr. Tinkles and crew put a whole new word on mean!! Till next time folks see ya!!!!
A Knight's Tale (2001)
A TOTAL LET DOWN
When I first saw the trailer for this film i was astonished that hollywood would be brilliant enough to produce an 16th century tale to the fast pace of classic rock.
I missed it in the theatre , for which i was very upset about, then i rented it on dvd. My god sometimes when i miss a movie i very much wanted to see there must be a good reason behind it and sure enough there was!
I have never been so bored in all my life , here i was thinking this was going to be somewhat like Braveheart and it was more like an extended version of a Walt Disney animated feature. I thought when the beginning started into Queen's ultimate classic "We will rock you" that this was going to be everything i thought it was, boy was i let down.
Don't get me wrong i like Heath Ledger (mainly because my favorite actor is one of his mentors, that being Mel Gibson,I also enjoyed heath in "Ten things i hate about you" I just didnt like him in this im hoping to see more of Heath however but it would be nice in a more modern scenerio!
Well to make a long story short if you like jousting and all the activities envolved with medieval times you will probably like this!
Me myself was disappointed. Till' next time folks SEE YA
The Exorcist (1973)
THE SCARIEST MOVIE OF ALL WITHOUT A DOUBT!!!
When i first viewed this film i was a mere 11 yrs old! My father the big chicken he is, made me watch it with him!! Well put it this way i didn't sleep for two months after watching it without my lights on!!
I have rarely seen a movie that gets inside your head such as this one. The cast, except for Ellen Burstyn were reasonably unknown at the time! I will tell you they do one hell of a job conjering up the scare factor! William Friedkin is one hell of a director, if you have seen the making of this movie you would know why??
It is about a 12 yr old girl named regan macneil who is very innocent yet gets possesed by Satan. The music immagery and the whole aura around this movie leaves you thinking that what they are describing in this movie is definatly true. The special effects for the time are astonishing. A must see fopr those of you that are looking for two hours + of frights and i kid you not! If this movie didnt scare you i would like to here from you I WILL MAIL YOU RIGHT AWAY! fOR NOW SEE YA ALL!!!!!!!!
The Godfather (1972)
MOB FLICK NOT AS GOOD AS EVERYONE THINKS
I would like to tell everyone that this movie is highly overated expecially considering it is the number one movie in the IMDB TOP 250 LIST!! Dont get me wrong i like like Francis Ford Coppola's movies but i have never been a fan of this series!! He definatly has an all star line up , but come on people Marlon Brando cannot act his way out of a paper bag!! Just like one of my favorite Coppola movies "Apocalypse Now" Marlon got top billing over Martin Sheen when right well Martin should have been the oscar nominee!! It is a good trilogy but let me tell you something? If you want a good down to earth mob movie see anything done by Martin Scorsese! I wasnt really over touched by this series but i know it has alot of fans!! See ya folks!!!
Tombstone (1993)
THIS WESTERN KICKS BUTT
I never used to like western movies till i was dragged into the theatre to see this, and let me tell you something i have never been so entertained by a movie i thought was going to be cheesy!. I really like Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. The rest of the cast is exceptionally good. One star to watch for is Micheal Biehn as the evil Johnny Ringo. VAl Kilmer one of the most underatted actors in Holly wood plays Doc Holiday and believe his performance is academy award material!! If you have seen any of Val's movies definatly check out this one! Attention DVD owners if you have a 5.1 system that your dvd hooks up too you will be dissapointed i can only get the sound from the two front speakers not the rear if you are picky you should wait till it gets re-released!Bye for now folks!
Driven (2001)
FAST PACED INDY RACING CATCHES YOUR EYES BUT THATS ALL
Being from Brampton which pretty much neighbors Toronto where a majority of this movie was shot (Toronto Molson Indy)i was intrigued not only by the fx style trailers on t.v. but for shots of the local areas where i have been too numerous times. Once again like so many of Stallones's previous efforts i was let down. I miss the days of Rocky or Rambo or Lock up for that matter where you left the theatre saying god i cant wait for the video release, but not this time. This movie is rich on computer special effects and low on story line and acting ability. Stallone has to realize where his coup de' ta is and that remains unfortunatly in the action field.I would love to see him again in a thriller such as Demolition Man or Cliffhanger for that matter but i will have to wait i guess. If you enjoy indy stlye car racing you will probably love this movie and the visuals on this movie are quite stunning, but to a spoilt eye such as my own i could see the computer animation in plain view. We are supposed to make people believe that this is happening not like it was shot in front of the green screen that the f/x people use for these shots! Storyline is very week but if you are not the fussy tipe (such as myself ) enjoy . Untill next time folks, see ya!!!
The Waterboy (1998)
Well, I've seen better
I am an Adam Sandler fan but this movie was missing something - I just can't >pinpoint what it was. The casting was very good and I enjoyed the storyline. It >just didn't have me laughing as hard as previous Sandler flicks. I really liked >Happy Gilmour and as far as I am concerned that was Adam Sandler's best >work by far. I think it's time though for Adam to do a serious role where he >plays a mentally challenged person, I bet that following year he would have an >Oscar to his credit. You can try this one. Watch for the scenes on the football >field. They are the only things that make this movie worthwhile. >Enjoy.
