Seconds Apart (2011)

I was surprised... and Scared. Nice job from this different type of scare flick.

Seconds Apart...

I'm not sure how to explain WHY I liked this movie except that, I did. The only advice I can give someone who is about to rent this movie is... If you want something that will scare you, thrill you, and mess with your head... Rent this movie.

Looking over the reviews I see that a lot of people rate this movie highly while others rate it poorly. In my opinion, I can only imagine the poor votes are from people who were expecting your more typical, everyday scary film. This story, and it's direction, are nothing like your typical scary flick, not at all. I liked that because I want something different, and that is what I got.

On another note... I also have to commend the actors. I never found myself doubting someone and I was very impressed with the twins. acting especially.

Did I get scared... Yes. I even had trouble sleeping afterwards. I rate this highly because I got what I wanted, this movie delivered. I rated it a 9 because I was surprised.... something I rarely find in horror films these days.

An excellent introduction for children on how to react to strangers.
19 July 2007
The horror stories in the news and the endless stream of Amber Alerts can terrorize a parent while a child will remain innocent and naive to the concerns we parents have. Stranger safety, as it's referred to in this video, is not presented in a way to scare children. Far better; it teaches them in a fun and easy to understand way. The lessons are never over bearing and more importantly everything easily can lead to some valuable parent/child discussions. All in my entire child finds it fun to watch.

This video talks TO your child and not AT them. It lightly discusses the dangers and uses cleaver and sensible labels such as "Kinda' knows" (people your children learn to trust but need to know the firm boundaries, like their soccer coach). Then there are "Safe side adults" who are adults to be trusted without reservation, like parents. It talks about your safety zone and presents things in a fun green/yellow/red light guide to common daily situations.

I highly recommended this video to any family.

Was really good up until the opening credits
21 March 2006
This movie had lots of potential, beautiful women, cute guys, a beach, beer, a hot tub, a mansion on the beach, a swimming pool, a sexy maid who hates her job, and really nice cars. However, the movie had one thing that doomed it to failure... a full length script and a bunch of sexy women who want to give acting a try because they think it would be a cool idea.

Let's put it this way...

If you find yourself at a party and you have a choice between watching this movie or a childs potty training video from the 70s, choose the potty training video.

Bravo! An outstanding remake.
10 December 2003
I was a big fan of the original series and I have to admit I was a little concerned about the changes planned for the SciFi channels production. However... fear not. Bravo!

I watched this show with an open mind and did not tie myself to the original characters from the original series. I'm not that closed minded as others. Besides, the acting was outstanding!

They emotional issues were nicely covered and not overdone I might add. Of course it's impossible to tell how anyone would react upon learning your entire home world has been nuked beyond recognition and everyone is dead, but the rewrite does it nicely.

Special effects are amazing and I really enjoyed the unique style of filming used. The show is a sorta mix between Star Wars and 2001 and uses some very interesting 'documentary style' filming styles. You will be impressed.

All in all, I cannot wait to see more.

Perhaps the 12 minute version would have been a lot better.
5 May 2002
The story, if one is to be found, is about a young college girl about to experience life for the first time. Turns out that she just may be the reincarnated wife of a late Count who never could cope with her death. Seems he returned home from battle one fine day only to find his beloved wife had killed herself on the false rumors of his death. Well, same Count becomes a vampire through some convenient miracle (because it was needed to have a shred of a plot) and then begins to pursue and court her in modern day. The rest is her inner struggle (alright, that's a stretch) between life, ghostly erotic dreams, voices, seduction, school, being away from home, falling in love, and clove cigarettes.

This movie started out with a really good and captivating plot; Alyssa Milano naked, involved in multiple erotic lesbian scenes. The only problem is that the producers tried to fill in the empty spaces of the movie with... a movie. Why didn't Ms Milano just film a short segment for Playboy or Spice and just be done with it?

Alright, seriously though... if you're interested in partially naked women kissing other partially naked women then this movie is for you. If you are interested in any other form of entertainment then I would skip this movie. The initial lesbian scene with Ms Milano and Charlotte Lewis does actually

come off as a good first time, nervous lesbian encounter for a young college women. (Not to mention the scene first introduced me to clove cigarettes)

All in all this movie is a shame; Ms Milano has undoubtedly proved herself a more then so-so actress. (I loved her in The Canterville Ghost). As for others, Jennifer Tilly does actually act nicely in my opinion. This isn't saying much but I do always enjoy watching Ms Tilly enjoy herself enjoying others in movies.

Nuf said.

Great actions, awesome soundtrack, all around very fun!
7 March 1999
Armitage the Third (the re-edited/re-released version of the original 4 part series) is overall extremely entertaining. The action is typical of many Japanimation films are but this one differs because it has a plot. I am impressed with the stories evolution throughout the film and the films techno/punk soundtrack is fun. Plus, Armitage is a hottie! So much fun to look at.

The story starts off with a lot of action and at the same time introduces you to the history. Many Japanimation films just take for granted that the viewer will accept too much without explanation. It's almost like most films say "ok, the world has been taken over by evil, and for some reason our 3 lovely main characters are all sexy women (who have developed super natural powers where no on else has) and who for some reason cannot wear any clothing that covers anything."

Armitage's story, though futuristic, is not entirely outlandish. It has a "Blade Runner" sorta theme with a new story. Watch it and you will become a fan. And once you have become a fan you'll watch the original series just to see the missing footage.

UFO (1970–1971)
Cheesy British sci-fi thriller about Earth's UFO defense
27 February 1999
It is hard to give a serious review or comment about this TV series except that, if it is not taken too seriously, it is very entertaining.

Gery Anderson, who also produced Space 1999, was ahead of his time in when he created UFO. Though it is not Star Trek, this show always entertained me when I was a child. And to this day I find myself hunting the SciFi channel for the show to air.
