The Oxford Murders (2008)
Witty, refreshing and challenging.
The Oxford Murders from Alex de La Iglesia is a refreshing appearance on international releases. The opening's most stunning speech from brilliant John Hurt "There's no truth outside of mathematics... Philosophy is dead." begins a journey with an impeccable filmography. The uninterrupted shot following the main characters on the streets of Oxford, into the bookstore, and onto the streets again to end in the crime scene was perfect, and shows off the director's film-making skills. Elijah and Leonor are both rare specimens in today's one pattern acting and appearance, also I found there was no chemistry between them, they both did a great job only shadowed by John Hurt's impressive performance. This is really a film not to miss.
Threat (2006)
Childish
Threat is a lousy film. Childish dialogs, amateurish editing and in general a failed movie. That said, it's not a boring flick. I could not find any dramatic line leading to the violent ending, everything seemed to be just pasted, mixing all ingredients without a functional recipe, some of it worked, animation fitted in quite smoothly, in fact I missed more of it, soundtrack is again quite suited to the action. I didn't regret watching it, in all fashion is what this movie is really about, not a line of fashion, but many styles, not only in dressing but also talking and even walking. It tries to present another catalog of urban tribes, but it fails on that too. In general, watch it only if you don't find any other thing to do.
The Graffiti Artist (2004)
Nice,interesting little movie
This is a low pace, in the real sense, movie.
The soundtrack helps to keep the sense of calm, so do actors. Very little dialog which is also something I enjoyed of this film. It's not pretentious nor boring at all.
Ruben Bansie-Snellman does a great job playing a lonely suburban kid, Nick, he steals for living, food and painting spray, roaming under the city at night landscape trying to find himself and his own place on the walls.
Nick comes across Jesse, Pepper Fajans. Both artists, but they find out to be very different.
Relax and enjoy this movie, don't expect a work of art, but a very interesting and different portrait of young people.
