Little Buddha (1993)
Sorry, Bertolucci: you can't be a good filmmaker.
The most striking thing is the completely passive attitude of the parents of the unlucky baby someone decided to transform in a reincarnation of a dead monk. There's nothing to understand: characters, actors, director, enthusiastic spectators have decided not to use their brain. Everything is accepted without any criticism or even doubt. The plot? Nothing happens. We only have some happy plagiarized babies.
One of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Nikita (1990)
It is NOT American: what a joy!
Nikita is one of the best action movies I've ever seen. Why? When Nikita shows her ferocity at the beginning of the movie, you really WANT to kill her. She is an animal you feel we must eliminate. But the story develops. It has a taste of reality, even if through borderline scenes. You understand her feelings. She is a killer, but also a human being which deserves a better future.
Luc Besson is a great director.
Forget the American remake: it's such an awful thing I didn't resist two minutes. Sometimes Hollywood is neatly inferior: it's a matter of content.
Non ci resta che piangere (1984)
Unique
Sadly, the only occasion we had to see together two of the best italian actors of the century: Benigni and Troisi. Anyway, it's a comedy: there's nothing else to do, but laugh.
