My Guilty Pleasure
24 January 2005
I know, I know. This is a teenybop, sickly sweet movie. But I can't help it. It is my biggest guilty pleasure. I have seen this movie over 10 times and am now buying the DVD.

In a world were most movies are so full of sex and/or violence...you have Chasing Liberty. Sure you can guess the end within the first 10 minutes, but so what?!? Mandy Moore is just adorable and Matthew Goode is just...hum...really great eye candy!!! He is just too cute for words!

The music in this movie is pretty techno and I really enjoyed the scenes in the concert and at the Love Parade. Keep looking for the CD of the soundtrack to come out.

Anyhow, I am sure 98 of 100 people will say don't waste your time, but I disagree. I just love this movie.

Mystic River (2003)

A Must See
19 October 2003
I read the book by Dennis Lehane because the story was set near my hometown. I read it in less than one day. It was gripping, real, gritty, sad, and just one of the best stories I've ever read. Now, usually, Hollywood NEVER does a great book justice...with Mystic River, that has ended.

Not only was the screenplay true to the book, but if possible, it enhanced the story with vivid pictures and actions.

I have more respect for Clint Eastwood as a Director than ever before and Tim Robbins (whom I have never really liked all that much) as an actor. They should both win every possible award for their work in this film. Sean Penn was so real. I "believed" in his pain and his intensity. Kevin Bacon has never has a better role. The entire cast was a perfect fit.

One more thing that I would like to mention is the music. I don't usually pay too much attention (well, I listen, but I never felt a movies music was integral) to the music, but every note was perfect and fit with the story. I wish I could explain it better, but I am a movie lover, not really a critic.

This film will win awards. There is no doubt in my mind.

This is a true "Must See" movie. I recommended it highly.

First one was much better
11 July 2003
I love Reese, I love everything she has done, but this was just painful. Elle is a great character and they just made her seem silly. If you aren't expecting greatness, this was an okay movie.

One thing that I have to comment on...the freakin' sound boom in ALMOST EVERY SCENE. Man was that ever distracting. You would think with the amount of money they spend on movies, they could have one person looking at the shot saying "Hey, the boom is in the shot." How hard is that? I wouldn't mind if it were just once, but it was continually in every scene. Yuck.

Everything I thought it would be!
9 April 2003
People are going to write about this movie being formulaic, saccharine, and every other cliché you can imagine, but you know what? Who cares! This was a sweet, done to death premise that delivered. Amanda Bynes has a great career ahead of her. The girl has it all. Great timing, great looks, and she is genuinely likable. Colin Firth alone is worth the price of admission! That man is just...umm....looking for just the right word....ahhhh....yummy! The only disappointment I felt was the casting of Kelly Preston as Libby. She was fine, don't get me wrong, but it just didn't work for me.

Don't go in looking for something new, you won't find it here. Go in looking to be pleasantly entertained and this movie will deliver. A great movie to see with the family.

I will see it again and again. When it is available on DVD, I will buy it.

Sweet and Funny!
30 September 2002
I am a displaced Yankee in the heart of Dixie...Montgomery AL. I saw this movie and just loved it. As did all the "rednecks" in the audience. They laughed out loud...and just had a great time. Sure, you may think it is "stereotypical," but darn if it isn't fairly close to the truth!

This is a movie I will see again and again, and most certainly purchase on DVD when it comes out!

Adam as Usual
29 June 2002
This is certainly an Adam Sandler movie. Doesn't stray too far from the formula.

This was a funny movie, with many, many laughs. I must say, John Tuturro (sp) stole the movie. He was just "on" through his entire part!

This is not even close to the original (thank goodness) but still an enjoyable 90+ minutes.

A fantastic 2 1/2 hours!
20 November 2001
While I didn't read any of the Harry Potter's books, I went into this movie with no expectations whatsoever.

I was blown away by everything about this movie! From the acting, to the cinematography, to the music. I could find NO fault in any portion of the entire film.

The characters were completely believable, the storyline didn't stagnate in the entire running time.

I saw the film with my kids (13 and 12), who've both read the entire series of Harry Potter books. The greatest compliment I believe any movie adapted from a novel can receive is "It was exactly as I imagined it to be." The kids thought the school, Harry's "muggle" home, all of the characters were dead-on to how they imagined it to be.

We WILL see this movie over and over again...and when it comes out on video/DVD, I do believe we will be the first in line to buy them!

Fantastic entertainment!

A delight!
14 November 2001
I went into this movie skeptical on two levels...

One, the book was fabulous and very rarely are movies even close to being as great.

Two, Renee Zellweger. 'Nuff said.

I was completely surprised and thoroughly pleased by everything. The comedy was on target, the pathos was great, and oh my is Colin Firth a perfect Mark Darcy! Renee did a fantastic job! Thumbs down to all who doubted her! (Me included!)

This is going to be the first DVD I buy! Go see it, rent it, whatever! It is a great hour+ of your time!

Laughed so hard it hurt!
2 September 2001
This movie was just about the funniest, side-splitting movie I have seen in a long time.

Rowan Atkinson was at his funniest! And that accent!?!? Jon Lovitz was genius...Kathy Najimy as his wife! Perfect casting!

Go see this movie...if only for the tour of the "Barbie Museum!"

A great way to spend an afternoon!!
24 June 1999
Without being very wordy, I highly recommend everyone see this movie. This is Disney at their finest. My only regret is that the movie wasn't longer. My children (9 year old boy/11 year old girl) adored it as well. My daughter led the clapping at the end, we all laughed and cried and cheered through it all. This will be one to add to collection when it comes out on video! An absolute 10 in our book!

A simple movie of friendship and family.
3 January 1999
A very simple plot, which followed the S. E. Hinton book almost to the letter. I have loved this movie for years, recently watching it for the first time with my daughter. This movie, for me, shows that friendship can overcome all and family will be forever, no matter what the circumstances are.

I highly recommend that you read the book, then watch the movie.

The "Classic" of Classic TV
3 January 1999
This is the television show that broke all the molds. There was no comedienne at the time (or for that matter, any time) better than Gracie! No one could act that dumb! She was poetry to watch. As George used to say, he stood while Gracie talked! What a pair they were. If you can find it, rent the episode about the checkbook. I got dizzy just watching! We can only hope that Nick at Nite goes back further than the 60s for the real classics of TV!

A must for fans of comedy!
3 January 1999
This is by far one of the wittiest movies ever made. Ernst Lubitch was a genius, Jack Benny was the king of comedic timing, and Carole Lombard had no peers!! Mel Brooks made a nice remake, but this original is a far superior movie!

Go rent this movie!!

THE Perfect Film for ALL ages!
2 January 1999
I consider myself a movie "buff" having seen 100s upon 100s of movies and I will put this movie up against all of the classics!!

There is nothing lacking in this magnificent movie. I have watched this movie with my children so many times, they can quote it! As you have read in others comments..this is a highly quotable film (Fezzik, jog his memory.)!

It is sweetly done, romantic, heroic, sad, funny...although not mentioned much are the scenes "outside" of the story between Peter Falk and Fred Savage. To see how spending time together, reading a book, brought this young grandson and his grandfather closer together was very touching!

One of Rob Reiner's best. He will be hard-pressed to top this wonderful movie. GO BUY THIS MOVIE!!

The WORST movie ever to waste celluloid.
2 January 1999
I cannot state enough how horrible this movie was. If I were Don Johnson I would remove this credit from my resume. It was just plain awful. Within the first 10 minutes of this mess I knew I should leave. Unfortunately for me, the others I was with wanted to stay (I will NEVER forgive them!!).

Don't waste your $3.50 rental fee.
