tacky piece of garbage
7 August 2001
corny, tacky piece of garbage, the humor is all based on cheesy gay stereotypes. the crazy drag queen, the faghag, the gogo boy with a heart, the nerdy boy whos gorgeous but doesn't know it. how dumb! i wish movies with gay themes could be made that have at least something to do with reality.

unfortunately this movie does not capture wigstock
7 January 2000
... it doesn't go behind the scenes at all to give u any sense of the event...

furthermore, why is alexis arquette in it? he has nothing to do with wigstock.. he's just friends with the director.

Stonewall (1995)

a funny, inspiring film...
7 January 2000
this is one of the great low-budget "queer cinema" triumphs of the 90s'....

contrary to the above commenter, i do think the details are right... and yes, the cops were homophobic.. they used arcane, outdated laws to close gay bars.. have u read the book "stonewall"? they make it very clear that lots of bars - gay and str8 - were "illegal".. only the gay ones were shut down..

i was very impressed by the right-on details in the production design..
