Arlington Road (1999)
Masochistic, horrible movie. Unfortunately, well done
Insecurity for the sake of it coupled with the message that humans are deeply evil. If you evocate the best qualities in a human been you get his best behaviour, while making leverage on his weaknesses you pull his worst parts out of him. It's like biting your own testicles.
Norma's Lament (1997)
Sensuality as seen with the eyes of a woman, and lot more
Excellent movie: the overall atmosphere is unique, imaginative and irreplaceable starting with the `introduction'. It talks about sensuality, seduction and all those (much too powerful) forces that, against our balance and intelligence, would drive us in an unknown territory, where we have no map. It has the energy and temper that only a wounded young tiger can have. When the tiger would be fully recovered we'll be amazed by the art of Christina Booth.
Viskningar och rop (1972)
The best movie I own (out of 900)
This masterpiece gives an answer to the question: What's happiness? The person who gives that answer is the less likely you might think. A person who is dying of cancer, a person who is suffering. However she's happy, she can see the real meaning of life, she can see the beauty and miracle of life. Happiness is there for everyone, if you can see it.
Career Girls (1997)
One of the biggest disillusionments.
I was touched by the humanity of SECRETS AND LIES, by its simplicity. It is one of the most insightful movies I've ever seen. I find CAREER GIRLS a useless exercise on filmmaking. The characters are so unnatural and forced. The continous twist of fate are just unreal and senseless. Horrible.
Secrets & Lies (1996)
A special place in my movie collection
Secrets & Lies deserve a special place in my collection of almost 900 movies. It's in my top ten.
