Chicago (2002)
9/10
Weak plot, but magnificent music, choreography.

My wife hated it. She said it had no storyline, which isn't quite correct. But Catherine Zeta-Jones' musical number "And All That Jazz" was, by itself, worth the price of admission. The other cast members followed with many more excellent musical performances. My own favorite was Richard Gere's tap-dancing manipulation of the jury during the trial scene. See it twice, and buy the soundtrack. I did.

One of my all-time favorites; a "must" for Spike Jones fans.
29 January 2003
Very much a Spike Jones show, although Buddy Hackett was fun to watch, also. The only comparison I can think of (without Spike's music) is Steve Martin's "Roxanne", which was also a comedy about a volunteer Fire Department. Mostly, I very much miss seeing this film on the late-night movie circuit and hope for its return.

Lolita (1997)
Fascinating: A tragedy, a love story, and a mystery...all in one.
23 September 1998
I found it to be a totally fascinating tale about people who would have individually been nothing, but together became an irresistible (although destructive) force. A good love story which became possibly the saddest I have ever experienced, owing to the nature of the princicpals. A faithful adaptation of Nabokov's book, and possibly even an improvement.
