Gregory K (1993 TV Movie)
10/10
This film provides a gut wrenching glimpse of a major social issue.
2 August 2000
A major issue facing social service systems throughout the U.S. is that of family reunification. "Gregory K." presents a brief glimpse of the ramifications of that issue. Gregory is the hapless victim of physical and emotional abuse. He is an abandoned child. He is a "throw away" child. Still, a blind social services system would have easily perpetuated those abuses if it had not been for the support and love expressed by a few caring adults.

Still, the film leaves the viewer wondering about the fate of his brothers. The abandonment of Gregory's brothers illustrates the point. That other children enmeshed in the frustrations and agony of family reunification will never be so fortunate as Gregory.

Elizabeth (1998)

The film lacked credibility.

The film portrayed The Golden Age as I always thought it would be. It portrayed gorgeous music, gorgeous costumes, and an essentially unblemished world. Still, "Elizabeth" lacked credibility. Where were the physical and mental handicaps so common during the period. What happened to the filth, garbage and rats. Why weren't the characters infested by fleas and lice? And for goodness sakes, why didn't the characters display a single wart? What, indeed, happened to the pox?

A noisy, incredible thriller.

Amateur radio operators ("hams") throughout the world will be thrilled when they hear the satellite ID of "CQ CQ," which is sent in International Morse Code. The technicians must have given the ID matter some careful thought and deliberation, for every ham in the universe knows that "CQ" means "calling any radio station." It's little wonder that the bad guys lose the battle, especially in view of such creative technological support!
