This is a feel good movie!
14 July 1999
This is a great movie in the old-fashioned tradition of movies being good, clean escapism.

Of course you wouldn't want to delve too deeply into the basic idea of a guy being born in a bomb shelter and living there for 35 years, if you do feel you need to do that then you just don't get what going to the cinema is all about.

Go and watch this will your kids/friends/partner you'll laugh and come out of the movie feeling just a little bit better about everything.

Will Smith - WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??????!!!
7 July 1999
Obviously the pay cheque was enough of a reason for the stars of this movie to bother making this total piece of garbage - if you thought The Avengers was bad, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

The only thing this movie has succeeded in doing is making most of the other awful movies I have PAID (hmm!) to see seem that much better and more bearable.

It makes the Wiggles movie look like an Oscar winner and it's so sad to discover that Will Smith and Kevin Kline have no scruples whatsoever - there are some things you just shouldn't do simply for the money!

Don't pay to see this one!

The Bachelor's Baby (1996 TV Movie)

AKA: Here Comes The Son (in Australia)
11 January 1999
Well, it was nice to see a movie about a mother who couldn't cope with having her child alone, but wasn't a bad mother, and a new father who didn't get everything right straight away.

Scott Bakula was perfect in the lead role as Jake Henry, unexpectedly the father of little Zack, who does his utmost to keep his son and also helps to sort out his ex-girlfriend's problems in the process.

This movie has a great story, is not overly sentimental, is often funny and touching, and is generally an all-round good movie to watch.

Romance, adventure and comedy!
9 January 1999
Well, I expected to like this movie as I think Drew Barrymore is a really good actress (anyone who doesn't think so re-watch E.T. - preferably with the added documentary footage), and Dougray Scott is just totally gorgeous.

I didn't expect to laugh as much, or to enjoy the re-working of such a classic story, and I expected the accents to make me cringe - I was so wrong.

Take your children, take your other half, you'll enjoy the story, the performances, the humour - in fact you'll just enjoy the adventure, then put The Mask of Zorro next on your list!

Hmmm, not the best Disney movie I've seen.
21 December 1998
Well, I'd give this a 6 out of 10 because I love Christmas, but really the plot was fairly thin and wasn't this same idea run through in John Hughes "Dutch (aka Driving Me Crazy) - kid doesn't want to go home (for Thanksgiving in that movie), but then he has all sorts of adventures on the road on his way home and learns his lesson, etc, etc.

The only problem with this movie is that, unlike "Dutch", I honestly didn't feel that JTT had learned his lesson at all, he was still a scam artist at the end. Disney should really learn some lessons from John Hughes / Chris Columbus, they really know how to make a kids live-action movie!

I was so disappointed because it sounded like a really fun idea, but turned into the plot of a so-so TV movie.

It's worth seeing, but go on cheap Tuesday, or with free tickets, you'll feel less ripped off!!

As good as "Sleepless in Seattle", maybe better?
21 December 1998
Well, I thought Nora Ephron couldn't beat "Sleepless", but I think she may actually have managed to do that with this movie. Hanks is very believable in his character and Ryan is (as always) charmingly ditzy but this time with a good brain too.

If you liked Sleepless in Seattle you will love this movie, if you never saw it you will love this movie, and even if you hated Sleepless in Seattle you will love this movie - it's funny, original, and has way more story than just 2 people who meet through the internet.

This movie will appeal to men and women, in fact, all husbands/significant others out there - take your wife to see this over Christmas - they'll love you for it!
