"Volver a Boedo" is the fantastic story of how the supporters of Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro, one of the Big Five of Argentina, managed to recover the land where their old and mythical football stadium was built, to give it back to them and be able to build a new court in that place.
Great documentary material, excellent interviews, a general sampling of what San Lorenzo means in Argentina, but more specifically what San Lorenzo and Boedo (his neighborhood of birth) mean in the City of Buenos Aires.
The documentary tells how the club was founded, its glorious growth until it became an elite team and became one of the greats of Argentine soccer, how the 1976 Military Process took away the land where its stadium was located until 1979, and of how, with its fans being fundamental actors, the club ends up recovering that place forever.
The film contains juicy interviews with former players, cultural figures, fans and politicians, shows original material of relevant moments in the history of El Gasómetro (the mythical club stadium that was knocked down), and emphasizes how, hand in hand with its fans (who in 2012 mobilized 110 thousand people to the Plaza de Mayo to demand the return of the land), the legislators of the City of Buenos Aires ended up supporting the Historical Restitution Project that returned the land to San Lorenzo, that it will allow it to build its third stadium in the "Holy Land".
Highly recommended for anyone, not only for fans of soccer, the most wonderful of sports.
