The production was filmed over a three day period from Adelaide in South Australia to Darwin in the Northern Territory on the train 'The Ghan'.
The film utilized fifteen different camera angles during principal photography.
The DVD sleeve notes state that this "immersive journey" is "an Australian first foray into the 'slow TV movement". Moveover, publicity for this picture declares that it is "Australia's first foray into Slow TV, a genre that became popular in Scandinavia in 2009 when a Norwegian broadcaster mounted one camera onto the front of a train."

The Australian DVD release included as special DDV extra bonus features helicopter shots, historical graphic sequences, and the complete journey in a whole trip time-lapse short.
