- Beginning of the journey at the Jemma el fnaa square in Mrrakech (Unesco world heritage site): Jérôme meets Saïd Marghadi, a guide and photographer: they drink a fruit juice and begin to walk through the Medina: they see the restored houses and arrive at the "riad" (boarding house) Dar Kawa managed by Valérie Barkowski.They drink a cup of tea on the terrace.Later Valérie and Jérôme walk through the Medina. they see a little market and banners for the jobs (in French and Arab): they pay a visit to Faissal Bennouna, the weaver: they see how he is working in his loom and Jérôme buys him some écharpes.Then they arrive at the shop and workshop of Valérie: they see the workers making embroideries.Then Valérie shows Jérôme a beautiful house (17th century) with a small garden and a great garden, with a fountain: they climb a tower to see the panorama of Marrakech (the mosques, the Jemaa el fnaa square). On the next day Jérôme visits the "Jardin Majorelle": he is received there by Youssef Jellab who shows him the house where the painter Majorelle lived (then came Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Berger): they see the cactus collection (coming from South America), they plant some trees and they paint an amphora with blue color and from the terrace they see the bougainvilleas and the other plants of the garden (which is now open to the public).On the next day Jérôme travel with Saïd to the desert of Agafay; they have a horseback riding, visit an abandoned village and arrive at the bivouac: Abdou Ouzbair receive them, they drink a mint tea and later they have supper.On the morning they enjoy the sunrise and the panorama about the Atlas mountains (the Mount Toubkal).Later they travel by bus to Essaouira: they see the French architecture of the buildings: at the port they meet Ahmed Handour, the chef who bought some lobsters, they arrive at the restaurant and Ahmed prepares for them a lobster carpaccio (marinated in argan oil, a touch of coffee and decorated with pomegranates).On the morning Jérôme travels to the village of Foulst where he is received by Abdelkrim Moumen,they go to the fields and harvest argan fruits: later the women of the house explain how they make the argan oil (which is used for the skin, the hair and for the cooking): Jérôme and the family taste the fresh argan oil and Jérôme buys a bottle of argan oil.Back to Marrakech Jérôme meets Saïd, they walk through the "souk" of the carpets, buy some pastries and arrive at the French Consulate: they meet there Jean-Louis Raynaud who is in charge of the decoration of the buildings : they visit some private apartments and meet then the French consul who explains that this place will be open for the Moroccan artists. Besides we see zooms about the women in Marrakech (the Al Fassia restaurant, the singers of Taroudant, the palace of Namaskar), about the Jemaa el fnaa square , about Abdelrrazaak Benchaabane (the former gardener of Yves Saint-Laurent and now perfumer), about the Toubkal Mount in the Haut-Atlas, about the town of Essaouira (the windsurf, the history and the Gnawa master) and about the water supply in Marrakech ( the Agdal reservoir and the use of sewage treatment waters for the tennis courts and public parks).—zutterjp48
