Charming fantasy romance
lor_16 November 2018
Unsung Adult filmmaker from the VHS era Thomas Paine delivers a whimsical feature for Adam & Eve dealing with angels as cupids, that hit me squarely in my romantic bones. It's likely too frivolous for today's porn audience, but plays quite well 20 years later.

Michael J. Cox stars as a an unfortunate fellow whose bride (forgotten starlet Shawna Edwards, quite effective in a major role) dies soon after their wedding night, but comes back as an angel whose quest is to find the perfect mate for him to take her place. John Decker joins her later as a fellow angel with similar assignment, and of course the light tale ends with the angels hooking up in decidedly unangelic carnal fashion.

Prinicipal contenders to have Cox fall in love with them are superstars Aja and Asia Carrera, giving the modest feature a punch that a no-name cast could not deliver. But it is Shawna who impresses, further evidence that despite the star system (ingrained in the industry and amplified back in the VHS era by the emphasis on contract players at the major labels like A & E, VCA,, Vivid and Wicked) a lot of talent deserved better roles. Poor Shawna, though impressive in the classic Wicked thriller "Crazed", was mainly stuck in ephemeral gonzo appearances.
