The rise of social media has seen a rise in the number of so-called scoopers sharing inside information. Many of them have no more credibility than your average Reddit commenter, but then there are those with a solid track record.
@MyTimeToShineH (mostly) falls into the latter category, and whether you want to put that down to lucky guesses or legit sources, they've dropped more hits than misses in recent years.
This latest claim, though, is one we're struggling to believe. Then again, stranger things have happened!
Apparently, Black Adam star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is on Marvel Studios' radar to play En Sabah Nur, a.k.a. Apocalypse. We'd assume this is for the upcoming X-Men reboot, though it's possible he'd play a Variant of the villain in one of the upcoming Avengers movies seeing as many of the original X-Men are expected to appear.

Exclusive: Here’s some buzzy casting. Greta Lee (Past Lives) and Kingsley Ben-Adir (Bob Marley: One Love) are in negotiations to star in director and producer Louis Leterrier’s (Now You See Me) upcoming sci-fi horror film 11817.
Both actors are on a roll. The former is coming off a string of hits including Oscar nominee Past Lives, Apple TV drama The Morning Show and Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, while Ben-Adir’s last two movies couldn’t have gone much better in the shape of box office hits Bob Marley: One Love and Barbie.
In 11817, inexplicable forces trap a family of four inside their house indefinitely. As both modern luxuries and life or death essentials begin to run out, the family must learn how to be resourceful to survive and outsmart who – or what – is keeping them trapped.
Additional casting is underway on the project, which is based on a script by Matthew Robinson.

Those that can’t wait for yet another Fast and Furious movie might want to pump the brakes a bit because director Louis Leterrier has announced that it won’t be pulling into theaters until 2026. That said, things will be shifting into high gear later this year as the franchise heads towards the finish line with Fast 11.
Speaking with Collider, Fast 11 director Leterrier teased that “It’s happening. It’s happening very, very soon. I’m able to shoot a little horror movie this summer. I’m finishing my horror movie on September 15th, and I start Fast on September 16th.” This would indicate pre-production, as he added that filming itself would start in early 2025.
Those who have been devoted to the Fast & Furious franchise will note that the intended release year for Fast 11, 2026, will be a special one. As Leterrier clarified and noted, “It’s filming early next year,...

The "Expendables" franchise has one hell of an impressive cast of recognizable actors. The first film was released on one very simple promise — to reunite as many '80s and '90s action film stars as possible and see them kick all kinds of ass. The film featured Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, and other stars in an ultra-macho, testosterone-exuding action franchise (which was originally meant to be a comedy).
One big '80s star who's never become an Expendable is Kurt Russell, but not for lack of trying. Russell actually turned Stallone down for a role in "The Expendables," with the star of "Escape from New York" citing that he was "not interested in 'ensemble acting' at this time." Of course, he'd change his mind just a couple of years later when Russell signed up to join the "Fast & Furious" franchise — known for its ensemble cast.

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s longstanding “Fast & Furious” feud came to an official end last year when Johnson shocked fans by popping up as the beloved Luke Hobbs in a “Fast X” mid-credits scene. Diesel had extended an invitation to Johnson in November 2021 to join “Fast X,” but Johnson said the following month that “I would not be returning to the franchise.” That turned out to be a bluff.
The duo’s “Fast & Furious” co-star John Cena recently appeared on the “Armchair Expert” podcast (via People) and was asked by host Dax Shepard about the rumors concerning Johnson and Diesel’s on-set tussle. The host said “that was a rough pairing.”

Thankfully, after watching the film, my worries have been cast aside as I had an absolute blast with it. (You can check out Bumbray’s review Here!) This is just as dumb and fun as the original. Sure, it lacks that 80s charm, but it’s replaced with a modern beachside aesthetic that works. And Conor McGregor is chewing so much scenery that I question how the sets were even standing by the end.
Daniela Melchior and Lukas Gage were nice enough to chat with me about the film. I, of course, had to inquire how much experience they had with the original film. They talked about not comparing themselves with the performances from the original and trying to carve out a path for themselves. I also had to make...

Continuing her ascend in showbiz, the actress has now joined forces with Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor in Doug Liman’s new feature, Road House, a remake of the 1989 classic.
Detailing her experience working on the remake, the Guardians 3 Star got candid while discussing McGregor in the movie, whom she was curious to watch.

Tubi offers hundreds of television shows and movies that are available to stream for free. (Courtesy graphic)
Streaming television continued to chip away at broadcast and cable TV delivery in February, according to the latest report from Nielsen Media Research.
The data, published through Nielsen’s The Gauge report, showed streaming accounted for nearly 38 percent of all television watching in the United States last month, up from 34 percent during the same time period last year.
By comparison, broadcast television viewing dropped from 24 percent last year to 23 percent, while cable saw its viewership drop from 30 percent last year to 27 percent this year.
Gains in the streaming sector were buoyed by more consumption of YouTube last month, with more than 9 percent of all TV watching taking place on that platform.

Gracenote, owned by audience measurement giant Nielsen, has launched three services designed to help frustrated viewers in the streaming age find programming more easily and allow pay TV and streaming video aggregators to “put compelling content first and solve common ‘where, when and how to watch’ as well as ‘take me to watch’ use cases.”
Touting its “up-to-date and comprehensive datasets covering subscription video on-demand (SVOD) and linear (Fast) content availability,” Gracenote said the new offerings will help “address the fragmented viewing experience” by pairing TV, movie and sports programming availability data with program metadata to make the search for and discovery of content easier for consumers, while allowing “streaming aggregators, digital platforms and multichannel video programming distributors” to optimize their business.
The company quoted Nielsen’s “State of Play” report, which found that 20 percent of consumers say they abandon a viewing session when they can’t find something compelling to watch.

BBC News is entering the growing free ad-supported TV (Fast) game in the U.S.
AMC Networks and BBC Studios unveiled the launch today of a 24-hour live news channel and have landed distribution with a number of partners including Pluto, Samsung TV Plus and Sling Freestream.
The Fast channel will operate in a similar way to the rolling BBC News channel, which delivers 24/7 coverage of breaking news and “moments of global significance,” AMC and BBC Studios said.
BBC News has been making enforced cuts of late to its UK and global output but has expanded in the U.S., where the Fast channel is launching. The news outfit has grown its operation in its Washington DC bureau and anchors coverage from the UK, U.S. and Singapore with presenters including Sumi Somaskanda, Caitriona Perry and Christian Fraser.

I’ve said this many times, but I state it again: I’m a super fan of the fantasy genre. Whether it’s because The Lord of the Rings saga remains my favorite after all these years or because it’s a genre that allows exploring the true immersive, escapist potential of cinema, I’ve always felt a special connection with this type of storytelling set in a completely imaginary world, full of mythical beings, breathtaking kingdoms and castles, and uniquely unforgettable creatures. Therefore, the mere fact that Damsel is an original fantasy story automatically set my expectations for this Netflix movie higher than usual.
Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) and written by Dan Mazeau (Fast X), Damsel follows the story of Elodie (Millie Bobby Brown), a young woman from a poor kingdom who sees an opportunity to change her life, as well as that of her people and family,...

Warner Bros/Legendary Entertainment’s Dune: Part Two held strongly in its sophomore session at the international box office, adding $81M to handily cross the $200M overseas milestone, and reaching $367.5M globally.
We’ll dig further into Dune 2’s second frame below, including its China start. In the meantime, let’s look at what’s new this weekend.
Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 4 came out kicking as it begins a staggered overseas rollout. The fourquel opened to $22.2M in 41 markets which rep just 23% of the international landscape, and put the global debut at $80.5M. Spain was the only major in this first suite as the Jack Black-starrer will continue adding markets in the coming weeks to align with holiday play; it goes to China on March 22.
The offshore start, excluding previews, is bigger than Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3 in like-for-like markets at today’s rates.

The Stranger Things star isn’t always convincing as a princess fighting for her life, but there’s some fun to be had from this rousing subversion of storybook tropes
Taking age-old expectations of how a fairytale is supposed to play out and giving them a brisk shuffle is by no means as fresh as some film-makers often like to think, upending cliches with a tired wink and a smug smirk. But Netflix’s Damsel, itself loosely similar to Hulu’s 2022 offering The Princess, doesn’t require our astonishment at its wheel reinvention to pass the bar and is far too sprightly to get overly bogged down in the self-satisfaction of such an endeavour.
There are, in fact, very few surprises in store here – perhaps Fast X writer Mazeau’s script could have benefitted from a few – but there’s a simple, mechanical satisfaction to watching an underdog fight her way back from the depths,...

Mark Wahlberg hasn't had a movie in theaters in a couple of years, but he's about to stage a comeback with "Arthur the King." Hailing from Lionsgate, the true story-inspired movie centers on adventure racer Michael Light and a street dog that he befriends during a crucial moment in his life. So, can this man and his dog tale help bring Wahlberg some glory at the box office? Even though that success may be relatively understated, it's looking very much like that could be the case.
The audience-friendly flick hits theaters next weekend, where it will be opening against "The American Society of Magical Negroes" (which figures to have a muted debut). Kristen Stewart's "Love Lies Bleeding" is also expanding into more theaters, although it also figures to have a somewhat limited footprint. This is to say, "Arthur the King" will probably do the best of the weekend's newcomers,...

Vin Diesel’s been laying low in recent months following a bit of a double whammy. In May, Fast X Part 1 hit theaters to a collective shrug, with the film drastically underperforming at the box office, “only” making $714 million worldwide. While that sounds like a lot of money, it was under the benchmark the movie needed to break even for Universal. Given all the behind-the-scenes drama, many wondered what the supposed final Fast movie would be, especially with another spin-off announced for Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs, and the big Fast X baddie, Jason Momoa’s Reyes. The second big blow for Diesel came in December when a former assistant accused him of sexual battery during the making of Fast Five, an accusation Diesel “categorically denied.”
With the star laying low in recent months, many wondered what would become of the Fast Saga. Now, in his first post about the Fast Saga in a while,...

Vin Diesel is updating fans on the future of his Fast and Furious franchise amid legal issues surrounding the star.
Diesel took to Instagram on Friday to share that he met earlier that day with the writers and team behind the planned finale for Universal Pictures’ action movie series. This marks the first public update on the film saga following Diesel’s former assistant suing him for sexual battery in December stemming from an alleged 2010 incident at a hotel during production on Fast Five. Diesel, who also produces the car-focused films, has denied any wrongdoing.
“Just finished our end of the week Fast meeting with the writers and the whole team… to say the excitement for our finale was incredibly powerful is an understatement,” Diesel wrote in his Friday post. The Fast and Furious franchise has been around since 2001, wowing audiences with its thrilling car chases, street racing, heists, and so much more. Starting the movie series with The Fast and the Furious starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and others, it kickstarted a franchise thay has endured for more than two decades. Its latest addition was Fast X, which saw the return of many actors, including Dwayne Johnson, who had bid goodbye to the franchise some years back.

The Fast & Furious movies are “tremendous” says Christopher Nolan, and recommends that newcomers start with Tokyo Drift.
Christopher Nolan may have landed a huge hit with his sombre biopic, Oppenheimer, but he’s no snob when it comes to popcorn munching escapism, either.
Speaking to host Stephen Colbert on The Late Show (via Variety), Nolan reiterated his clear affection for the Fast & Furious franchise – and he’s evidently an afficionado of the series, given that he talked briefly about its “arc and mythology”. The director even provided a recommended starting point to Colbert, who to date hasn’t seen a single Fast movie.
“I have no guilt about being a fan of the Fast & Furious franchise,” Nolan said. “A tremendous action franchise … You’ve never seen any of them? I watch those movies all the time. I love them. I’m amazed you’ve never seen one of them.

There was a time not so long ago when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was the most untouchable and powerful man in Hollywood. He was the highest-paid actor in 2016, 2019, 2020, and 2021, and there was such a push in 2017 for him to run for president that he starred in a "Saturday Night Live" sketch about it. His inclusion in the "Fast & Furious" franchise starting with "Fast Five" helped catapult the series into an international box office juggernaut, and considering his career in the wrestling ring made him one of the most well-loved figures in all of pop culture, it's understandable that he would have a lot more pull with studios than the average performer.
But Dwayne Johnson is far from invincible.
Reports of his on-and-off feud with "Fast" co-star Vin Diesel painted him as a bit high maintenance, and when the public learned of the "No Lose" clause in his contract (which...

Exclusive: Paramount Global’s free streaming outlet Pluto TV has just completed a refresh of its brand and will be taking its first bow during the company’s Super Bowl broadcast on CBS, Nickelodeon and Paramount+.
The impetus for the move, insiders tell Deadline, is to position Pluto as the progenitor of free, ad-supported streaming television, or Fast. It also coincides with the 10th anniversary of Pluto’s debut as a beta website in March 2014.
The Fast category has mushroomed from humble beginnings into a multi-billion-dollar revenue generator, with an estimated 1,500 total channels jockeying for attention across the sector. It took two major Hollywood labor strikes and a broader economic downturn to finally un-peak Peak TV.
Over the course of 2023, just 481 U.S. scripted series were released, new research from Ampere Analytics states. For both 2021 and 2022, the London-based media analytics firm calculated 633 U.S. series were released. We will spare you the math: it’s a decline of 24 percent.
(John Landgraf, the FX chief who first coined the phrase “Peak TV” and has updated/awed TV critics each year with a new tally, had a slightly smaller total for ’21 and ’22; we do not yet have his 2023 total. IndieWire reached out to FX for comment on Ampere’s numbers, but we did not immediately receive a response. Either way, Landgraf saw this reversal coming, strikes or no strikes.)
Even the Covid-impacted 2020 saw 510 U.S. series released, Ampere found.
It is not just that fewer series were released last year; fewer series were ordered,...

The peak TV era may be over, but free, ad-supported streaming television is continuing to boom.
With more than 1,500 Fast channels now operating in the U.S., though, is there a risk of that vast array of offerings overwhelming consumers and bogging down the programmers and distributors trying to manage them all?
The consensus among five executives speaking on a panel Tuesday at NATPE: The risk is indeed real, but as with all industry booms, the glut of channels is forcing all stakeholders to raise their games. The result could be improved financial results and a better experience for viewers.
“There were channels when we started that were really just slapped together,” said Laura Florence, SVP Global Fast Channels for Fremantle. The test for any channel should be, she added, “Will viewers stay through a 2-minute ad break for it?” As the multi-billion-dollar Fast segment continues to evolve, programmers, advertisers...

It’s the time of year for smooth-brained relaxation. Moviegoers can recover from the holidays with the comfort of knowing Gerard Butler, Liam Neeson, or Jason Statham will be here to satisfy their mid-budget, action-programmer needs. Is it really the new year if one of those cherished Kings of January doesn’t appear on the release slate? There’s no Gerry or Liam, but the ever-reliable Statham dons a trucker hat and blue jeans to grit his way through David Ayer’s The Beekeeper, an overall valiant, occasionally fun attempt to take us out of Q1 doldrums.
As Adam Clay, Statham is both a beekeeper and a BeekeeperTM––a retiree once tasked with operating outside the Intelligence community’s normal chain of command in order to “protect the hive” from chaos and corruption. Adam’s landlady (Phylicia Rashad), who rents her barn for his titular pastime, has her finances wiped out in a phishing scam,...

Adam Fogelson is replacing Joe Drake as chair of Lionsgate’s motion picture group.
Drake reportedly initiated the transition and will be working with Fogelson over the coming months on succession plans. Drake, who was named co-chair of Lionsgate in 2017, will be leaving the company. He’s departing after leading the studio to its first billion-dollar year since 2019, thanks to commercial winners like “John Wick: Chapter 4” and “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.”
“Despite unprecedented disruption over the last few years, we built a team that thrived throughout and achieved everything I could have imagined at Lionsgate,’ Drake said in a statement. “Having worked side by side with Adam for the past 18 months, he is the perfect choice to lead the motion picture group forward to even greater heights.”

While the “Fast & Furious” franchise has seen directors come and go over the course of more than 10 films, Justin Lin is often thought of as the one filmmaker to really cement his legacy with the films, directing five of the features. He was set to direct the final two films in the main ‘Fast’ series of films, also, but right before production was to begin on “Fast X,” he abruptly departed the project.
