Exclusive: Brett Weitz continues to expand his turf at WarnerMedia. Eight months after he was promoted from Evp Programming for TBS to General Manager of TNT and TBS, Weitz is also taking on oversight of truTV. With the new title of General Manager of TNT, TBS & TruTV, he will now manage all three networks and oversee their creative executive teams and development in New York and Los Angeles. Concurrently, Thom Hinkle, most recently Evp Original Programming at TBS, has been upped to head of original content for all three networks, bringing TNT and truTV into his role.
Weitz’s promotion, part of a contract re-up that had been in the works for months, follows the May contract extension of Kevin Reilly, who added truTV to his portfolio as president of TNT, TBS and truTV and Chief Content Officer, HBO Max, leading to the departure of truTV president Chris Linn and layoffs at the network.

“Chasing the Cure” is a television show, but host Ann Curry wants it to become a genuine platform for viewers to discuss mysterious medical ailments and crowdsource potential solutions.
Season One of the series, which is being simulcast live on TNT and TBS, focuses on individuals who are suffering from various undiagnosed illnesses that have mystified doctors. After the backgrounds of those cases—which are vetted by experts in advance—are outlined on the show, “Chasing the Cure” brings in a team of medical professionals to try and assist the patient. As the show is live, viewers are encouraged to suggest possible causes for symptoms and pitch solutions. Meanwhile, the various cases the series discusses are uploaded to its website, where individuals can also share stories of their undiagnosed illnesses and discuss options with viewers.
That’s the synopsis, but further discussion of the show is probably moot until the...

There is a massive imbalance in the health sector that has over the years been to blame for unwarranted deaths. People have lost their lives, succumbing to diseases and infections that are treatable after receiving wrong treatments due to misdiagnosis. Furthermore, others have suffered much under the torture of strange conditions, yet they cannot receive health care on account of their poor economic status. It is justifiable to say that top quality health care is only within reach of the well up in society. In light of this mayhem, Ann Curry, a very experienced journalist with a soft spot for

Turner’s “Chasing the Cure” will attempt to diagnose medical mysteries on live TV, but the show won’t actually be providing cures for patients, host Ann Curry says.
The 90-minute show, which will air live on TNT and TBS and stream online, will introduce patients whose mysterious illnesses have stumped their doctors, allowing a panel of experts and viewers at home to suggest potential reasons for their symptoms, new avenues of testing to try or even possible cures.
“We are not their doctors,” Curry said at the Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday. “They have their own medical doctors, or primary care physicians, if they don’t have a doctor, we have to sort of deal with that challenge. But essentially what they’re getting is a panel of experts for a problem that they can’t resolve. And they can take their advice or not.”
