I once interviewed Murray Lerner (over 30 years ago) regarding his coverage of both folk and jazz fetivals, and this long-in-fruition release of a classic Joni Mitchell performance oudoes the hype.

With an endless expanse of music fans sitting patiently to listen, her solo performances of so many classic songs (including her interrupting her own rendition of "Chelsea Morning" with the admonition that she didn't feel like singing it) displays a purity of artistry and musicality I have rarely seen in my life. She is so in tune with her work that it is no surprise that ultimately the throng is won over by sheer brilliance -none of the pyrotechnics, lasershows and endless shucking and prancing around the stage that one has become accustomed to in these large-scale arena or outdoor events.

I was always impressed with Joni's talent, but this artifact is one for the ages -truly a time capsule offering.
