Kids vs Monsters & zombies!
shaun_lime20 September 2019
Now that was a monster slaying, zombie killing apocalypse of fun and loved the animation, the sense of humour and the plot.

I'm never going to grow old for animation because it just gets better every time and makes me feel young again when watching.

Fun for the Whole Family!
rcyoung-0242613 May 2020
This is based on the graphic novel of the same name. I've never read it, so I can't comment on whether this is an appropriate adaptation.

However, I will say that it is a fun show for the whole family to enjoy. I watched this with my 6 year old nephew, and my girlfriend.

There are monsters, zombies, and an all star cast featuring the voices of Bruce Campbell., Mark Hamill, and Rosario Dawson. There are plenty of references to other movies as well, which is very pleasing to a cinephile like me.

The humor is OK. It plays like a show for kids, which can be annoying at times.

Still, there are worse kids shows out there.

apocalyptic world and kids
bilalcansakalli17 January 2022
The series tells how children can survive and have fun in an apocalyptic world. The absence of any parents in our series leaves the children alone and we watch their adventures. The illustrations of the animation are beautiful and sweet. The creatures drawn are super cool. The fact that the characters in the series make decisions on their own and endure the consequences together, like a good or bad family, is a beautiful element in the series. If you are looking for a sweet apocalyptic world series, The Last Kids On Earth is for you.

At least they left some good ones.
GiraffeDoor24 June 2020
Right of the bat I was very intrigued by this show. The premise could have been more original but I liked it and I liked the tone. We had a fun narrator-protagonist making the best of a bad apocalypse. They way that video game mechanics are liberally integrated into the visual style are fresh, vibrant and also add a poignant edge as we realise that this is his coping mechanism to not deal with the vicious reality.

"Book 1" is our feature length pilot that "Book 2" sadly never quite equals because there's simply too much filler. There's something very charming in this band of kids that would mostly never socialize in real life becoming a surrogate family including a school bully with some nerds and *that* kind of girl.

I think June is a pretty well developed character but a part of me can't shake that she is a very deliberate and somewhat pandering example of the "strong female". It's not that she's a caustic and strong that I dislike, I think it's awesome, but she has Hermione Granger syndrome where she is blatantly the most competent and emotionally mature character and must remain a sort of mother to the male characters that surround her. I know that's a rather pedantic issue but I've been reading Firestone...

Jim's very well acknowledged crush on her from the beginning prevents them ever being a satisfying romantic interest. As for Jim himself, he gradually becomes a less and less relatable character from his incorrigible habit of going rogue.

As I mentioned, a lot of this is filler, but at it's best we have a mature story of people dealing with formidable situations and learning to trust each other. At times very predictable, it was easy to want to see what they were dealing with this week. The set pieces, epic monster battles and superb creature design never disappoint.

Could it be better? Sure. But you could do so much worse.

It Has Everything a Kid (boy?) Could Want
bobbyd6107418 September 2019
If you're wondering should you watch this with you kid....Easy answer. YES!! Zombie/Monster Apocalypse strikes small town USA, and it's up to a handful of kids (I'm guessing 11-12 years old) to stop them. I'd put the horror on a scale of Scooby Doo or Ben 10 if that helps. I'm only one episode in but my 8 yr old son is absolutely loving it. Movies that work for him have this common theme....kids saving the day doing grown up things like driving cars (remember it's an apocalypse...light traffic), awesome action and animation with the proper amount of jokes (there's a sentence I never thought I'd wright;) Harmless horror/action cartoon perfect for the upcoming Halloween season approaching. Hope this helps.

It didn't suck
siderite6 April 2021
I liked the movie as an adult to which the interactive stories format is a novelty, but the kind of horror story sanitized for children vibe really threw me off. There are four kids that are walking cliches who perkily describe themselves as the last kids on Earth after a magical void turned everybody to monsters and zombies. They have fun, they drive a car around monsters or fight them, they die sometimes, but they are always commercial-like happy. It's creepy as hell!

I liked the badge system that kind of lets you know when you finished a particular branch, but there is no way to see how many badges you got or there are still to get, which makes it kind of pointless. I liked the fast-forward system that stops at a decision, but I also disliked that they show an entire scene before letting you choose, so for three choices you have to see the pre-choice scene three times. I liked how they combined the animation scenes in the different flows, although some were a bit off, like failing to get an item, but following with a scene where a kid puts something in the trunk.

Bottom line: a good effort, much more fun than Bandersnatch and more entertaining than Carmen Sandiego. It's still not working as it should, though, as it is hard to feel you are in a story from the moment one reaches the end and has to select from the latest choices backwards, otherwise they lose the choice tree.

My kid loves this show
denniskin4 May 2020
I am a 40 year old adult that likes horror, sci/fi and fantasy. I still watch animated shows (cartoons) to this day and I think I always will. Though, The Last Kids on Earth is very kid oriented, watching this show with my little one is a delight. The monsters have a bit of a Lovecraft vibe that usually is a draw for me. I remember fantasizing very similar scenarios to this show when I was a kid. What's more fun than a giant monster apocalypse with friends and no adults. This show is pretty good, dads get your kids and check it out.

Surprisingly well animated and fun
BrittleBandit21 September 2019
The fast paced jump cuts and manic montages reminded me of Edgar Wright's movies so this was a delight to watch. There are plenty of movies and games references around, and small details to notice. The animation is incredible. Plot and characters are well done cliches, but cliches nonetheless, the whole "crush on a girl that turns to be strong and doesn't need help" thing is kinda passé at this point, but I'll dismiss it as it's the first episode, hopefully they will tone it down eventually, the main character is too endearing to be stuck on this one note joke.

Great show with action and great dialogue
Jessica_Nolasco30 September 2019
As an 18 year old almost turning 19 very soon I enjoyed this show. The first episode caught my attention. I love the animation and art its so smooth and nice to look at and admire. Like the voice actors except for Jude. The scientist boy sound kinda off but whatever. The show has great dialogue and action that I don't get bored at all. And the characters interactions were great and not cringe for me haha. This show makes me laugh because its just funny. How the guy makes it into a video game. This is honestly a great show. And how its happening to middle schoolers kinda make me laugh. Can't wait for next episode; seems great. Haven't read the books but after watching this i'll buy the books and read them.

Nothing Compared to the books.
evanmcmurray2 May 2023
In the books the whole team is made up of intriguing characters, but in this show its just bad punchline after bad punchline, they had to make SO many changes to the story once you got to season 2, and all the characters are showed completely wrong. June is some crazy fighter, but in the book she has a deep connection with everyone in the group. Drik is dumb in the show, Quint is a literal nerd emoji, and they are all just SO. MUCH. BETTER in the books, its fine as a show, but when you put it up against the books its nothing. Its just as bad as comparing Percy Jackson the book to the movie. Its fine on its own but just compared to the books its just not good.

Great!
torraelfearz13 October 2019
Not gonna lie, when I first saw it I thought it was gonna be one of those generic, poorly made Netflix original shows but I was surprised! Is actually very fun! The characters are great and I love how they added monsters as well as zombies to make it different to other zombie apocalypse stories (also their pet monster is super cute lol). I'm very excited for the next episode! :)

Good Show, Just A few Things...
sashapittman26 April 2020
I love the show. The animation is amazing. And the story is good. But, why was book 1 (season 1) only one episode long?

Wait..it has Bruce Campbell? where?
garabedian12319 September 2019
Almost a 10...The main character spends like 15 minutes of the show fantasizing about saving a girl...he repeats himself multiple times and this takes up way too much screen time...but other than that...ITs fantastic...Ohh...Except for a few minor things...The boys in the show are beasts..taking on any zombie they see, doing extreme stunts and crazy things..but the instant they meet they girl, they all become useless morons who has to be saved by the girl...Feminism at its worst...And they killed a huge beast with a toothpick...well its a cartoon and was still a lot of fun to watch!

Is slowly getting worse
ethjo17 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So... I used to think of this as a nice show, good art style and quite fun premise. However once season 2 rolled around, the show took a turn for the worst. Season 3 has lost any plot or enjoyment as everything can be solved too easily. Any challenge can be beaten with no work. This is just my opinion though.

LOVE THIS
Zacharine797-228-1004026 April 2022
My kids love all things zombie And the show is just perfect. It is fun enough to not cause nightmares, but it is spooky enough to make my little spooky babies very happy. The three-year-old always asks to watch zombies lol and as an adult I enjoyed myself. I wish they came out with more seasons faster!

Not Appropriate for Kids
nosral_ikkin29 March 2021
This show is listed as ages 7 and up. My 8 year old watched this show and had nightmares. More and more, they are pushing boundaries on appropriate content for children. Wouldn't recommend.
