Tangled Up in Blue

Warning: Spoilers
I like a comedy that in 2018 still tackles serious subjects like drug and alcohol abuse, but the writing for it is too uneven. Will they show us the highs and lows of Becky's struggles during this 6 week period Dan gave her, or will they only reference it at the end?

DJ actually had a funny moment talking about Mamma Mia though, so that's a first for him.

Still Missing Something
russbiz24 October 2018
I gave the second episode a chance. There was more humor than the first episode, but the show is still missing something. I think we know what that is. Also, it was interesting to see the "Christmas Vacation" reunion of Johnny Galecki and Juliette Lewis.

Give it a chance

We love this show, we love all the characters, yes it's difficult without Roseanne, and maybe they shouldn't have killed her off, maybe put her in rehab or something but it needs better reviews than this guys, come on!!

Not Missing a Beat

I like this show. Even after two episodes, the writer's are concentrating on each character and not focusing on one as they did with Roseanne, whom I do not miss at all with her harpy personality. I want this show to succeed because it's good to watch something that has good writing and getting better rounded characters. The scene where Darlene and David actually discuss divorce, the emotions rang true with both characters and how hard that is after you've been together for a long time. Bring on more of "The Conners"!

David Healy vs. Leonard Hofstader
noplacelikefoam24 October 2018
I really wish I started watching "The Big Bang Theory" AFTER "Roseanne." Although, it's not much of a difference, since I binge-watched every episode of TBBT at a point where it was way past its prime: 2016, and every episode of "Roseanne" earlier this year, but solely for the purpose of the upcoming reboot, as I had to see what the fuss was all about. Until then, I have never watched TBBT or "Roseanne" except accidentally while at the barber shop or channel-hopping. Anyway, my point is that whenever I saw David in this episode or the "Roseanne" reboot, all I saw was Leonard with a five o'clock shadow and no glasses. It's a good thing he is, was, and will always be a recurring cast member. Otherwise, I have no hopes for "The Conners."

Already Gimmicky

It isn't uncommon for tv or film to use an actor that connects one of the cast with an old reference, like 'The Connors' has done with the Juliette Lewis cameo. Both Lewis and Johnny Galeki appeared as brother/sister in 'National Lampoon's Vacation' way back in 1983. I liked the character of Blue. She's the oppositie of Darlene, which gives the "dark" depressive something to counter. It makes sense that David is dating someone so much older than him too, because he's always sought a mother-figure. Roseanne Connor being the obvious mother-figure in the original series 'Roseanne and Juliette Lewis does resemble Sally Kirkland, who played David's mother. Unfortunately the writing still suffers like the first episode, although admittedly not as dejected as Episode 1. Without Roseanne Barr's input with the show, I can't see it lasting half the season.

Gave the show a second chance. Can I have my time back?
ralphlsanders24 October 2018
The first episode was off, maybe due to Roseanne not being there or the cast still trying to 'gel' together.

The second episode seemed to be more of the cast trying to gel together into a smooth production but failing. I don't have the time to give the show a third chance. I am rating the show at a one and hoping they replace the show.

Not missing a beat my rear.

Roseanne Barr was 70% of the show and this is a weird cross between out of character Big Bang Theory with a cross with California politics. This is a very sad day when politics push the artistic styling of any artist. This show is a sorry state of things in the USA, if Roseanne was a super liberal and she said what all the liberal actors say about Trump they would have cheered for her.
