Sweet and funny
chiswickianw19 October 2019
This is a 30 minute feel good yet emotional journey with two guys wanting to start a family. Andrew Scott yet again shows his immense talent at playing another totally different role to how we have seen him before. Heartwarming, sweet and emotional, it's a great watch with a mug of tea and your favourite biscuits to give you the warm fuzzies!

Heartwarming story!
drbarbc-526-51746621 October 2019
I knew I had seen her before, she was Art3mis in Ready Player One, great film, even better book. Anyway, this was my favorite Modern Love episode since it was so intensely real. Strangers thrust together in unusual circumstances often squabble, yet these characters were so alarmingly self-aware, it was touching. Poignant tale of an unconventional family. Great episode.

My Favorite So Far
deborah-9917223 October 2019
First of all, props to John Carney for an excellent script and incredible directing. I just loved the dialogue.

Second of all, the Hot Priest is in this!!! Andrew Scott, who I last saw in Phoebe Waller-Smith's brilliant Fleabag, plays one man of a gay couple. And he's so good. I could watch this guy in anything. Everyone in this cast knocks it out of the park. No pun intended.

These characters are complicated, smart, surprising. The episode flew by and suddenly it was over. By far, this story and these characters were the most nuanced and dimensional of the series. Well done, everyone! I actually cried. A+++

Heartwarming

This is a beautiful episode. I liked the way it showed the two different worlds but they can still come together for the better of the baby.

Touching episode of love with different worlds.
blanbrn27 February 2020
This episode 7 from season one of "Modern Love" called "Hers Was a World of One" is touching proving that anyone can have love and connection no matter how different. It involves a male gay N.Y. city couple who adopt a baby from a homeless woman! Really painful yet emotional and touching at the same time.

Amazing!

This is amazing! Every second of it and the characters and the plot! I don't know if it was intentional (probably yes), but Karla reminded me about Marla Singer in the movie Fight Club. Both her views on the world and her appearance in some way too - she even looks quite resembling to Helena Bonham Carter.

The best episode of the season
francogrex22 August 2021
This is most definitely the best episode of the season. The acting was superb, it was funny, it was light but also deep at the same time. Two thumbs up.

Bravo on this episode!!

I rarely take the time to write a review....for anything....ever. But let me just say, those 35 minutes completely unstitched me. What an incredibly beautiful story. I could watch this episode again and again, as a reminder of how beautiful human nature can actually be, when we decide to see past differences and offer love and understanding to this world. (Side note- BIG advocate for gay adoption and any state that moves to ban should be completely ashamed) Beautiful characters, beautiful humans.

If this isn't a 10 out of 10 then ur in the wrong room

If u have any life experience, or understanding of these characters lives, this is a ten out of ten. What more do u want? Every character was flawed. U want a perfect scenario that meets ur expectations? The write ur own script. This was their story and it was so blo ody accurate. Loved it, best episode of the series.

First review for this episode
annamarie123428 September 2022
I signed up just to write this review on IMDB. It was so, so good. A 10/10 for me, no doubt about it. I absolutely loved it. The characters and their interactions are amazing. The couple together is hysterically funny. From the very first second, I thought the characters were hilarious. I also like the way they discussed bigger societal issues. When Tobin and Carla disagreed and discussed, I could really see value in both sides to the arguments.

It was overall a really enjoyable episode. Out of the entire series, this was my favorite episode by far and I will surely rewatch it. If the episode was a show with these actors, I'd probably binge every episode. Did not expect this at all!

Won't be justified to comment on how the episode was.

As personally, I'm against bringing kids into this world. Hence definitely not-neutral.

Also, relatively less relatable for me.

But nonetheless, it does touches multiple facets of life like every other episode from homosexuality, parenting, growth to choice of life.
