All's well that ends well.
Tc and Magnum had a little hiccup in their relationship when they couldn't agree on the guilt or innocence of Hani, but it all worked out on Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 5, just as we knew it would.
Tc was certain Hani was innocent, and in the process, we learned quite a bit of information about Tc's past -- some of which even surprised Rick and Magnum.
It has to be hard on a young kid when a parent goes to jail, and it's understandable why Tc lied about his dad going to jail. It was that experience that made him so desperate to prove Hani's innocence.
He wanted to spare Mack of having to experience the pain, shame, and desperation of what he did when he was a boy.

The aloha shirts. The breezy smile. And oh, that mustache. When you think of Magnum P.I., it’s hard not to conjure up an image of a young Tom Selleck in the title role. But that’s exactly what Jay Hernandez had to face when he took on the role in the rebooted version. He told us [...]

Magnum and Higgins are a dream team!
Higgins strutted her stuff in more ways than one on Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 2 when Magnum helped out an old friend of Nuzzo's who needed help when his big catch got stolen.
The whole premise of team Magnum trying to solve the case of a missing giant tuna seemed a bit silly, but it turned out to be a bigger deal than any of them expected.
Higgins is quickly becoming the star of the Magnum P.I., and I'm already thinking how great it would be to have a spinoff series focusing on Robin Masters' majordomo.
What's great about this reboot, is how Higgins has become an integral part of the team. Magnum relies on her expertise, and she loves helping out even if she does it begrudgingly -- or acts like she is.
There's no way the former spy can resist being part of the action.

There's no question that there will be a lot of people watching Magnum, P.I. pretty closely when it premires on the evening of Sept. 24, and more than a few of them are likely to be skeptical. Which is not really surprising when you consider how beloved the original Tom Selleck version was during its 1980 to 1988 run. And if anyone understands that particular pressure facing everyone involved, it's actor Jay Hernandez who has assumed the Thomas Magnum character from his predecessor. (Photo Credit: CBS) "It's really kind of surreal," Jay laughs during an interview at San Diego Comic-Con. "I watched an episode of the original Magnum, P.I. probably a month or two before I started shooting. It was a scene where he's in a surf skin in the bay in Hawaii, and two months later I find myself doing that very same thing. But when I was watching the original episode,...

Magnum, P.I., was one of the shows I used to watch with my grandmother (along with The Love Boat and Fantasy Island), and, as you can imagine, is one I hold extremely sacred.
Even if you weren't around when the original Magnum, P.I. aired in the 80s, you no doubt are familiar with the iconic role played by super hunky Tom Selleck. The sexy mustache and his infamous Hawaiian shirts will forever be remembered in the annals of classic TV.

At the top of the 70th Emmys, the conversation went right to two areas expected to dominate the entire night. Hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che opened up their part of Monday night’s telecast with a flurry of jokes, mostly centered on diversity in the industry and the growing #MeToo movement.
Without mentioning the hashtag itself or any of the prominent men in the TV industry who have come under scrutiny for their past actions, Che and Jost still found a way to address things right away.
“It is an honor to be here sharing this night with the many, many talented and creative people in Hollywood who haven’t been caught yet,” said Che.
“This year, the audience is allowed to drink in their seats,” Jost added. “Because the one thing Hollywood needs right now is people losing their inhibitions at a work function.” (It is unclear whether...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday.
This week’s question: Last week we talked hits, so now for the misses. Which new TV show do you think will flop, and how would you fix it?
Damian Holbrook (@damianholbrook), TV Guide Magazine
This new season lacks that one network show that stands out as just total shit. Some are weak, like “Rel,” because it wastes the star’s talent and others, like “The Kids Are Alright,” are mostly unnecessary since we already have like, five sitcoms about large messy families set in different decades with voiceovers. But most have something going for them to spare the viewer from inescapable TV hell. So I am giving this Jeers to The CW’s “Charmed” reboot for making several missteps, some thankfully fixable. First off, even though it provides some nice representation with a Latinx central trio,...

“Magnum P.I.,” CBS’s reboot of the Tom Selleck drama, has a panache problem.
The show is certainly showy-looking, with an opening sequence depicting Magnum (Jay Hernandez) parachuting into North Korea and rescuing a dissident’s wife and child by driving through the side of the family home. And yet the reveal—that Magnum is telling an embellished old war story to his friends, to whom he introduces us in labored voice-over—is done clunkily and with a painful maximum of exposition. Little in the pilot of this “Magnum” evinces much trust in the audience, or much willingness to defer over-explanation for a moment.
The show’s writers, at least, attempt to introduce a touch of wit into Magnum’s endless voiceover. “Yeah, I know what you’re thinking,” he notes, describing his lifestyle as a private-security agent and part-time private investigator on lush Oahu. “This guy’s life doesn’t suck.

Magnum P.I. (2018), the crime drama TV series set to premiere on CBS this autumn, is a reboot of the show of the same name which ran from 1980 to 1988. The original 1980s series followed the adventures of Thomas Magnum, a Vietnam veteran and private investigator played, by Tom Selleck. Jay Hernandez replaces Selleck in the 2018 reboot of the 1980s TV show. Hernandez’s Magnum is a decorated former Navy Seal who becomes a private investigator in Oahu, Hawaii, after returning home from Afghanistan. He applies his military training to solving difficult cases with help from fellow vets Theodore […]

The network television climate of 2018 is marked by a couple of key trends: An often-too-incremental but real movement, pushed along by voices in the media and among fans, towards greater inclusivity onscreen, and a flood of reboots and revivals from the semi-recent past.
But those two trends tend to run in direct opposition to one another, as recent panels at the TCAs proved. Two shows returning to CBS this fall, “Murphy Brown” and “Magnum P.I.,” as well as a reboot of “Charmed” on the CW, promise, with varying degrees of credibility, to address the times in which we live, a promise also made by last season’s revivals of “Will & Grace” and “Roseanne.” Both of those sitcoms fell short, ultimately, and judging by the panel for “Magnum,” which bobbled the question of inclusivity in the writers’ room, hope is not high for the new crop. These shows may have some new faces,...

CBS’ new “Magnum P.I.” features a leading man with a goatee, but it sounds like star Jay Hernandez might shave off the chin-hair portion for Episode 2.
“We’re doing an homage to the mustache at some point,” Hernandez (pictured above) told a roomful of reporters Sunday at the Television Critics Association press tour.
Executive producer Peter Lenkov clarified that the nod will come in the freshman season’s second episode. Neither elaborated on the exact nature of the tip of the (Detroit Tigers) cap to original star Tom Selleck’s signature facial hair.

The CBS reboot of “Magnum Pi” premiering in September features a Latino leading man in Jay Hernandez as the titular character, but his ethnicity won’t be the focus of the show.
“We’re certainly not denying the fact that he’s Latino. It is something that is acknowledged, and we plan to acknowledge it throughout the series,” executive producer Eric Guggenheim said at the Television Critics Assn. press tour panel for the show Sunday.
However, executive producer Peter Lenkov admitted that although he considers their writers’ room “very diverse,” they don’t have any Latinx writers because “it’s incredibly hard to find writers.” The gender breakdown of the writers’ room, Guggenheim said, was closer to parity, with four men and three women.
Lenkov said the reboot has the “spirit” of the original 1980s series that starred Tom Selleck, most notably through the “charm” of the titular character.

Once face-to-face with the cast of CBS’ Magnum P.I., TVLine wasted no time getting to the bottom of what the reboot is missing (hint: it’s curly), when compared to the original Hawaii-set series.
Executive producers Peter M. Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim quickly jumped in to address the elephant in the room, explaining how Google is to blame for you-know-what’s absence.
With that bit of nitty-gritty dealt with, I invited series lead Jay Hernandez to list what qualities from the original Magnum he thought it vital to carry over. “He’s easygoing, charming…. The kind of person that...

For most people, just hearing the name Magnum P.I. conjures up the image of Tom Selleck, an aloha shirt, and that mustache.
